CAPE TOWN - Kelly Smith, the mother of missing six-year-old Joshlin, said police needed to protect her from an angry mob after allegedly pointing fingers at her for her child's disappearance.

Smith said she had to be taken to a place of safety at a police station alongside her boyfriend, Jacquin Appollis.

The search for missing six-year-old Joshlin Smith from Saldanha Bay has been put on hold.

As per EWN, the search was paused following an increase in the spread of false information about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Have a missed the part where they spoke with the friends she was last seen playing with? Did they see anything? Did Joshlin decide to go visit someone else? Why did the search move to the coastline? Have they found more new information? There doesnt appear to be much out there and that's very concerning.

She is absolutely beautiful, those eyes! Poor thing. What a scary place to live with so many missing children. Wow.

wonder why she was home and not at "aftercare" that day.... seems there was an alternative if the boyfriend was not really going to be watching

Police spokesperson Lt.Col. Malcolm Pojie said police have expanded the search for six-year-old Joslin by dispatching drone operators and search and rescue dogs to the area.

“Clothing pieces, allegedly stained with blood, were discovered in an open field during random searches conducted on an open field late last night.”
Lt.Col. Malcolm Pojie said

He said the investigation team descended on the scene where the pieces of clothing were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

“The clothing will be sent to our forensic laboratory for analysis.”

''Detectives interrogate suspects for 36 hours

Tuesday’s breakthrough followed the arrival of the detectives from the Serious Violent Crimes Unit, as well as members of the Western Cape police’s kidnappings task force in Middelpos on Sunday.

The detectives took control of the investigation and apparently interrogated the two suspects, as well as another man, non-stop for about 36 hours.

Pointing-out, confessions and court

Throughout Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon, the two men allegedly underwent the pointing-out procedure and discussed their role in the girl’s disappearance.

It remains unclear whether Joslin was still alive when last seen by the suspects.

According to eNCA, the men will appear in court on Thursday, 7 March.''
