Father of Missing Ca. Woman Searches The Streets of Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- The father of 25-year-old Mitrice Richardson spent the weekend in Las Vegas searching for his daughter, but he believes one particular part of town, and one person, could help him in his search

I hope this is Mitrice. If she doesn't want to be found then at least her father can be at peace with knowing where she is.

IMO.. she may not want them (her parents) to know where she is... otherwise... there would have been a phone call or something.

Ok, there is something wrong here. The dad is in Las Vegas looking for the girl that he thinks he saw himself. The mom is on CNN saying she doesn't believe anyone saw her. I can't link it here cuz I am post a link illiterate. What is going on?

I can't find the story I saw earlier today now, but apparently, Mitrice's mother does not believe these Vegas sightings. IIRC, she said the the "friend" that claims he saw her at the Rio hasn't seen Mitrice since they were 15. They didn't go to school together and they didn't grow up together.

The locations of the two possible sightings are interesting to me. Fremont and 7th is our "downtown." NOT a good area. Very seedy and a lot of homeless and transient folks. But also a lot of tourists. The Rio is well southwest of there. I don't know much about the Rio, but I suppose they have their share of "ladies of the night." The hookers downtown and the prostitutes who frequent the Strip, are NOT the same ladies.

I speculate on this line of work only because she obviously didn't walk from Malibu to Vegas and because it's believed Mitrice is possibly being held against her will and is unable to contact her family. That sounds like pimp control to me.

Fairy, I read the same thing about the mom on CNN. How in the world did she get from Malibu to Vegas unless somebody (like a friend took her there) and is not telling.

All this hoopla about nothing at all. What a joke this one is. That's all I have to say.

More than likely, the sightings in Las Vegas is someone that has the look of Mitrice Richardson.
I wish it was her, she would be alive, even if she has some issues.
But I think she never left the area around the police station.

The LA Times is reporting that human skeletal remains have been found in the Malibu Canyon area.

At present, there's been no identification or recovery of the remains.

(The Las Vegas "sighting" seems to have been discounted?)

Authorities find body in Malibu Canyon, seek possible Mitrice Richardson link

Police investigators went to a remote area of Malibu Canyon on Monday afternoon after park rangers told L.A. County sheriff's officials that they'd found what appeared to be human remains.

It was not immediately clear if the bones, found more than 20 miles southeast of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, were those of Mitrice Richardson, who vanished after being released from Sheriff's Department custody last September.

Is there another area on this board where Mitrice and her disappearance has been discussed is active besides this one?
Thanks. I don't have the search option.

Yes. There's a thread for her in the Missing/Located forum - just scroll down a bit and you'll see it.

This is just heartbreaking. I know they haven't confirmed it and I'm getting upset for nothing but ......

Never believed the sighting in Las Vegas. For 1, there's a freaking reward and the guy didn't follow her? Whatever.

The authorities WISH that sighting were true. I'll say no more about that!!!!

Why would they think the bones might be hers, given that they were found twenty miles away and they hadn't actually seen the remains?

Maybe because it's thought that she was lost in that area.

Do you remember how far away that alleged sighting was in that man's backyard?

I just got the alert. My heart is broke. It's probably Mitrice.

Another news report has some intriguing information, which (when mapped) shows that the remains would have been found halfway between where Mitrice ate at the Malibu restaurant, and the Lost Hills police station) -- LA Weekly.

If you look at this map (CLICK HERE), you see the possibility that she was trying to walk back to her car.
A = Lost Hill's sheriff's station, where she was released
B = Malibu Canyon (approximate location of remains)
C = Geoffrey's Restaurant, Malibu (where she was picked up, and where her car and possessions remained)

What is going on with that post? Part is crossed out and then it says 5 miles from Lost Post. But when I try to copy the 5 miles part... it gives me the 20 miles part! Weird.

Okay, so these remains were found 5 miles from the station. Wonderful. Just freaking wonderful. 5 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typed by me: The Times reported the body was discovered more than 20 miles from the station, but a map indicates the area is within about five miles of the Lost Hills outpost.

They changed the story to repair the misspelled name, and that changed the URL. The story's now available here:
