Some fascinating details in that above DM article. Assuming the following is true, then it seems Wright’s name was definitely in the original investigation.
Staggering. I think @Rookie D is correct in that had police taken ED seriously and perhaps increased patrols the following night there’s...
Robert Black was a long distance driver, and one of the most mobile of all UK offenders. I'm not sure that Steve Wright was ever that mobile at least in terms of his work.
The police spent millions digging into Black's background and tracing his movements back over many years. I doubt they've...
Great post.
Yes, I think that there are certain similarities that shouldn't be overlooked
Melanie Hall and Victoria Hall
Both abducted after leaving night clubs
Both wearing silk/satin dresses with Jackets
Both young women
Both murdered and then deposited a considerable distance from the...
It was Robert Black's modus operandi, wasn't it, to commit a murder in one part of the country and drive the body in his van to another part of the country to dispose of it. If Steve Wright had a van then we probably shouldn't just be thinking about murders in EastAnglia.
...was also wearing a silk dress (blue) and a jacket on the night she was abducted.
Is there any chance that Wright was active at all in the west of England?
We know he was active in EastAnglia, and Brixton, South London, but could he have also killed in other areas of the country?
Curious
...start offending in their teens escalating to murder by their 20s.
There's a hell of a lot of unsolved murders and disappearances in EastAnglia where he spent much if his life going back to the 70s. It wouldn't do any harm to cross reference his whereabouts with any unsolved murders and...
Jill's home was above the cafe and truck stop her parents ran. Peter Sutcliffe was known to drive to Europe and use the nearby Harwich ferry.
Peter Tobin also travelled through EastAnglia from Brighton in the 70s.
Unfortunately I can't see this being solved anytime soon.
...described as 5'2" tall with brown shoulder length hair & wearing a blue raincoat. Peter Sutcliffe & Peter Tobin were known to travel through EastAnglia in the 70s. Did Sutcliffe a lorry driver use the Brown's cafe? He was known to take the ferry from Harwich across the river to deliver in Europe
Another unsolved from EastAnglia, murder of Karen Hales, Ipswich, Suffolk, 21/11/93.
21 year old Karen Hales was found stabbed to death & ablaze by her parents at the home she shared with fiance Peter Ruffles & daughter 18 month old Emily. The killer had murdered Karen in front of little Emily...
2 unsolved disappearances from the EastAnglia area of England in 1974 Unfortunately there is very little information out there.
28 year old Scotswoman Lynda Angus vanished at an unknown date in early 1974 from Suffolk. She was said to have been in the Lakenheath area since the early 70s &...
Brian McDermott was the right age to be one of the men. An Ancestry UK Electoral Register record shows him at The Royal Standard with a birth year of 1942-44. Whether he was one of the men is a different question to which I do not have the answer.
...from her father, who ran a pub in Earl's Court, or from some other source. It seems very strange though to disappear without waiting for this lump sum of cash first.
I'm still trying to work out the identity of the prisoner from HMP Whitemoor, who claimed to have buried a woman in EastAnglia.
Jesus! I didn't know about the Ventham / Hall / Tempest stuff. As you rightly say, sadly all too common in places like Blackpool. It seems that anywhere with social breakdown and cheap accomodation ends up being a hotspot for paedophiles, I think not only because they get dumped there after...
...many with convictions against children, I don't know the figures for Great Yarmouth, only visited once on a motorcycling trip to EastAnglia in 2017. There's almost certain to be paedophiles & other sex offenders living off the grid in Great Yarmouth.
The Andrew Ventham, Jim Hall & Derek...
Bumping this case as it will soon be the 50th anniversary. No new leads far as I know. 2 Scottish women also vanished from EastAnglia earlier in 1974 but not much information on them. Don't know if linked

He was last seen leaving his home on Plumstead Road East at 7.45am, but his school St William's Primary said later that day that he had been reported missing, and police have appealed to the public.
