I think the theives just intended to be car thieves, not carjackers, when the saw the running car.
Great that they had enough lateral thinking to get the boy to school safely.
But Mom left the boy in a running car...
No she wasn't, however she wasn't found far from 4x4 trails. It looks like she was found in a ravine due east of Mt. Abraham. My "B" marker is where I believe she was discovered. It may have been that she accidentally got on a 4x4 trail thinking it was the AT...
So she was indeed found at SERE, by a forestry contractor doing a survey for the USN.

I'm not in a place to see it. However, NCIS was at the press conference. Perhaps she was indeed found on the grounds of the SERE facility.

I don't know, but I'd speculate that she wasn't found too far off the trail. Its not too difficult to get off trail in a more desolate section of the hike -- or even a not-so-desolate section. (Happened to me last weekend, much to my partner's amusement. I lead us about 30 feet astray before...
A beach that sticks out pretty far in to the harbor. This is a google map view of Boston Harbor. I dropped the red pin on the Deer Island peninsula at the approximate location where Bella was found.
Its public housing, but to the city's credit, the Boston Housing Authority has been building some units that blend in well with the surrounding area without screaming "the projects"
Its the gay lobby! :D
(OK, some back story)
I play music as a hobby. Occasionally I do fill-in work with a band I've been friends with for years, the lead singer is openly gay and occasionally works bits of comedy in to his performance. They called me to join them at....a non-profit bar...
The opioid overdose numbers for the region are off the frigging charts. 217 deaths in Massachusetts alone in the first quarter of 2015.
New Hampshire lead the nation in opiate overdoses per capita :( 314 overdoses in a state of only 1.3 million...
Military people -- and by extension, their families -- are perhaps the most thoroughly documented people in the country. If a child of someone in uniform went missing, it would eventually be noticed.
Now, military presence in Boston is virtually nil. Nothing in the city since the...
I recently got the shocking news that a friend's sister has been murdered. Her name is Jackie Porreca. She lived and worked in Colonie, NY which is a town just outside Albany.
She was working alone at a hair salon called Recycled Salon when someone came in and stabbed her brutally in the...
The North Shore of Boston -- Peabody, Salem, and Lynn in particular traditionally has had some deep rooted Portuguese (from Portugal) folks. In recent years, I've noticed that a significant number of folks of Brazilian heritage have moved in as well. (The pastry shops are to die for!!)...
Yes indeed -- and in woodlands as well. Pollen can persist for years, it doesn't really go away. As carbuff said, it is sticky. Its kind of like the Post-It note of the natural world. It has to be just sticky enough to accumulate around the feet of bees and various other insects that flit...
That stuck out at me as well. I don't recall seeing many down that way, but wasn't sure how much to trust my memory.
I do think there are cedars of Lebanon over in the Lynn Woods Reservation, but not 100 percent sure.
