Maybe they spent a significant portion of the money - purchased something and were left short - needed money for gas. Maybe they didn't realize the couples van was diesel fuel, but were caught by the couple and then got into an argument/fight.

Robbery seems most likely to me too. Perhaps BS and KM stopped to see if there was petrol to siphon, and during the process woke up the couple, and they were confronted - perhaps looked out the back of the van - confrontation ensued - somebody had/got a gun in their hands and shot out.

If that is the case I hope the person who took the picture told the RCMP

These are all interesting considerations and make sense, but I still lean towards the RCMP making the public aware of homicides earlier and simply saying that at this time it is not known if the crime was targeted.

I'm leaning towards hyperthermia rather than suicide. If they were going to commit suicide I'm inclined to think they would have displayed themselves. If they attempted the boat and fell into the water and fell asleep in the bush, they would be at risk for hypothermia. We will find out soon enough.

Possibly the RCMP found contents of a wallet - some kind of ID (could be anything like a S.I.N card or even a library card, Wallmart ID), either left there on purpose or from a flipped boat).

Lots of guns, who has that many guns and why the need? One maybe. My uncles had rifles but they lived in northern Ontario and frequently went hunting. In this scenario, it seems over the top IMO and perhaps a red flag for police.

Yes both targeted and murdered. A little speculation and all my opinion: IMO the pool scene was staged and bodies posed to look like a murder/suicide. If the killers were hired by Pharma, the motive may be connected to upcoming court battles, OR, the desire to eliminate or merge with Apotex...
