Does anyone actually have a source document stating the victim had Spina Bifida? I have only seen it on Wikipedia and Doenetwork. Doenetwork supposedly gets their information from public sources, but I have read all readily available articles and I have not seen this information there. Seems...

Her spina bifida occulta may not have had any outward appearances or manifestations. This was discovered by a forensic anthro. after exhumation. The lack of fusion on the sacrum would be obvious when looking at the bone, but maybe not when she was alive or post-mortem at the time she was found.

Thanks! Wikipedia is at least a good resource for source. But it’s from Namus. I wonder if this is a mistake or if there are other data available. I haven’t seen an article where the locations were revised, so what happened? I need to look into this. Between namus and the original article from...

I didn’t realize they later determined she was from the Midwest. Can you point me toward an article or some documentation that states this?

Isotopic evidence indicates STL JD was from one of several southern states at least the majority of her life. I believe she is not likely from STL or Chicago. If Vernon is our killer he travelled across at least 35 states. She could be from anywhere.

I read a report that the tag in her shirt was cut out. Could this have been another attempt to hide her identity? Was her name on the tag? If you look at the shirt there are four stained corners with a clean(ish) center. Makes me wonder if this indicates it was removed post-mortem.

That’s true. That may still point to someone that spent enough time here to be able to look around.

Yeah that’s always been an interesting detail to me. Could be useful when attempting to match to missing persons.

I’m sadly aware. I’m a local as well.

Heard a case on the newest episode of TCG regarding the Rawlings Rodeo Murders. Royal Russell Long, possible suspect? She doesn’t seem to be his MO and she may be a little young (hard to say what his MO is), though she appeared bigger for her age. It seems he was a serial killer and only charged...

Not sure. Seems odd to me as well. It seems strange to me that it could be “lost” at all. It was late 80’s early 90’s and I don’t know how much chain of custody documentation was used back then, but it’s mail. If it went to the wrong address then someone would just get a bloody shirt and rope...

Seems highly likely IMO. Obviously the killer did not want her identified. Possibly because her ID would lead to his.

She wasn’t there for long and the temperatures were cold, particularly in the basement. Decomp. was not significant. Unlikely that her skin would be altered much. There are other methods to determine ancestry as well- hair could have been found on or around the body.

This evidence was lost by LE after sending it to a psychic in Florida :(

I agree. To be executed for murdering a young girl in front of his children and tossing her in the trash is a much sloppier M.O. than what we see with STL JD. Whomever killed JD was actively trying not to get caught. Though Vernon lived very close to where JD was found.

Definitely nylon. I don’t know why I find it to be so interesting, it’s not difficult to find nylon rope. But it’s common uses could point to a hobby or occupation.

IL IL - Donna Mezo, 16, Belleville, 18 Feb 1992

There seems to be a shocking lack of information about Jefferie Mezo’s apparent homicide. Suicide by appearance, suicide note, assuming single shot. Gun used found in nearby body of water. I’m not a doctor, but seems like he wouldn’t have bothered to toss the gun after he killed himself...
