I'll try to answer that. The barbed wire fences are not that hard to get through or cross, so those wouldn't necessarily keep him in the roadway. I cross fences all the time when I'm hunting, etc. (with permission from the landowner). Also, there are numerous entrances off of SFR that go into...
That's something that I found very interesting as I mentioned in a prior post. If no shoes, walking on gravel road would be very painful and probably not much better in the grass (trash, sticker burrs, etc.). If he still had his shoes on, it changes how far I think he would have gone.
Interesting that you asked that question...the cemetery is fairly dark at night, but most of the graves have glowing lights and decorations all over them. First time I drove by there at night it was a little spooky because you don't expect to see all those little glowing lights, but the lights...
The Valero is on the same block as the oil change place and from the intersection, you can clearly see the lights from the Valero. He may have gone to Valero, but who knows. Also, the intersection you mention is the way I go home pretty much every day. It may not appear so on the map, but...
I haven't, but probably because I haven't looked. I'll check a few places out in the next day or so and report back. That said, if they have them here, I'm sure they have them in San Marcos.
There are quite a few feral hogs in this area. Not uncommon to see anywhere from 2 or 3 together, but often in larger numbers as well. As a matter of fact, I drove past the accident site again yesterday and saw about 15 pigs (4-5 of which were piglets) running through a field not far from the...
I'd say at some points the banks are 15 or so feet above the water. It's not prone to sudden flooding, but with a decent amount of rain, it will be fast moving and can wash logs, trash and other heavy objects downstream. Unless it's after a hard rain, I don't think you could hear rushing...
FYI, I ride by the accident site a few times a week. There are so many different things that could have happened to JL. Who knows the real story. I know his parents just want to know. It has to be driving them crazy wondering if he's still alive, if someone is holding him, if he's out in the...
As I said in an earlier post, I'd like to walk down Plum Creek from 1322 all the way into Luling (7 miles or so). Steep banks, hard to crawl out of and since it has rained a few times since the accident, water may have washed things further downstream. I always look over the bridges.
No. Most of the trucks are pickups and are driving 15-20 miles an hour. The tank trucks are typically only out there during the day. I don't think there is any way that happened. Also, my understanding is they searched a long way back towards Luling.
Depends. If they were coming on 1322 from Lockhart (Sheriff), they could have come from the other direction. Alternatively, unfortunately a bunch of idiots drive out those gravel roads and throw trash out of their windows, so if they came from Luling, they might have just thought it was trash...
Just to clarify, I said that Waze tried to re-route me multiple times before I got to the accident site. It was only after I passed Pumper Road that Waze just gave up and said keep going straight to 1322 to 86 to 183.
Did he still have his shoes on? Walking on the gravel road without shoes would be painful and probably cause his feet to be bloody...this may have caused him to get off the gravel road and go into a pasture.
Because it's in the city, they give the streets names, but it's basically the intersection of Highway 183 (north/south) and Highway 80 (east/west, the highway that JL would have been coming into Luling on)
I don't think someone could drive down that road and not see a wrecked car. From where it was sitting after the accident, the front end would have been almost on the gravel.
