Found Deceased UK - Nicola Bulley Last Seen Walking Dog Near River - St Michaels on Wyre (Lancashire) #14

Is cctv being relied on too much, it can prove a positive, but can it prove a negative? In this case it is being relied on to prove negatives. That NB didn't leave the area by a particular route.

I agree with this. This is the sort of information that might, if she has just gone somewhere, potentially help identify her. Is drinking too much really reputation destroying? that's an awful lot of destroyed reputations. Somehow this case got more publicity than expected, and partly it was the...

We can't know what was going on 'behind the scenes' but I'd guess that the information about the nature of her vulnerabilities were being spread as gossip, and the decision was made that it was better to do it this way, rather than have it revealed by the press.

This new information seems to make it more likely both that she might have entered the river in some way, and that she might have gone off somewhere.

To be fair to the witness who tied up the dog, she may have heard barking and thought there was a lost dog, dogs do get lost, and so she went to tie it up, to stop it coming into the caravan site, even though she had a meeting quite soon. If she was doing it in a hurry it might explain why she...

Could the woman who tied the dog to the bench have maybe heard it barking, or seen it running around, because that area borders the caravan park. Then because she had a meeting just tied it up as a temporary thing. Dogs do run away from their owners, so she might have just assumed it was...

If NB had been attacked, unless it involved the river, a body would have been found by now, I'd guess, but an abduction would be very hard, and, if the bench is the area closest to where whatever happened happened, as seems likely, it could only really involve the area around Allotment Lane...

When I was watching I took that to be a rather pedantic statement implying that she had been in the river and may now be in the sea, rather than got out of the river some other way. I think Sally Riley used this phrase at least twice and the first time included a clarification. This is from memory.

Have they chosen the time limit for cars in the village to create a manageable search, rather than because it's a significant time in terms of events closer to NB? Presumably they've used cctv to identify those 700 cars.

This is a really interesting dilemma. Though it's difficult to see how she could have been attacked and her body removed from the riverside, if they can't find her in the river at what point should resources be shifted to more exploration of how this might have happened?

The problem is though there aren't really many options. She is either in the river, left of her own free will, or was abducted, and unless we're going to start exploring the possibility of alien abduction, that abduction must have been by another human being. So though it may be a circular...

Though the debate about whether the phone was on the bench or on the ground has gone on some time. A phone on the ground has more likely been dropped, a phone on a bench may just have been put there by someone sat on it. Though someone else could have put it on the bench. Who knows.

The video of the first stage of the walk done early on by the Daily Mail is interesting, because it shows us the path that goes past the smaller Wyreside Farm caravan park. I find the ending a bit scary, it would be easy to watch someone near or on the bench from the other side of the kissing...

In the Mail this morning, apols if already shared by someone else. I'd guess someone who wants to kill someone is going to be fairly devious, so leaving the phone by the river as a decoy isn't inconceivable, though the timeframe in which a crime could be committed is limited. There is a fine...

Faulding says the search could take three days. Whilst I understand reservations about the livestream it's, in reality, only shown them getting the boat, and other equipment ready. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/feb/06/nicola-bulley-missing-search-river-forensic-expert

This isn't great. Supt Sally Riley tells us all to stop speculating to avoid distressing the family, and then the family start asking everyone to keep an open mind about what happened. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/feb/04/sister-nicola-bulley-says-no-evidence-fell-river

That she fell in the river is a very reasonable assumption to make, there is no doubt about that. There is a high probability that she did. However policing has to be based on evidence, not probabilities. We kept being told when Sarah Everard disappeared that lots of people just go missing and...
