Lately, it seems more important than ever to reiterate this point. In recent years in Ohio, defense attorneys in murder cases consider it a victory if they can secure LWOP for their clients instead of the DP.
Ohio hasn’t executed anyone since 2020.
How sad. It sounds like he was found near the falls area and not farther away along the adjacent hiking trail. There’s a large gorge area a below the falls with steep sides, almost inaccessible . It’s possible he was down below that area and not seen for a while.
It’s been very, very cold in...
Michael Vangelas, 42, from New Orleans, LA was visiting CVNP. His 2024 white Toyota Corolla was seen entering was first seen entering the park on Jan. 14. On Jan. 16, his car was found abandoned at the Brandywine Falls trailhead parking lot, after a snowstorm. Michael is 5'10" with brown...
Yes, the Trump Administration (not the U.S.) wants the oil. They seem willing to subvert the democratic process in order to make that happen. Now that Venezuela has been destabilized, it should be up to the UN to help in the process of restoring their government and holding new elections...
That distance probably distinguishes the victims from each other in some way. Some of the locations may be due to chance, but Rex’s seemed more planned. I wonder if he will eventually talk? Probably only if there’s something in it for himself.
It’s incredibly helpful to have such amazing DNA...
I just finished reading an article in Vanity Fair about his last kidnapping victim. She was a born again Christian who helped convince him to let her go and let police arrest him.
Her recounting of her time with him was terrifying. He was an extremely violent man.
Here’s a link reached out to...
How sad. I very nice of the two people who went to search the area a couple years later. It sounds like the area was treacherous and the weather very cold and rainy for August. They nearly got stuck there, too and had to be rescued.
Mr. Fisk may have been caught in similar bad weather, cold...
"a source close to the family says"....
I think I'll pass on that rumor. These keep changing all the time. First, the family hired the guy, but he quit over money. Next he quit because the family wasn't going to spend money to hire Jackson. Now the family is upset that he just quit for some...
I moved to OH some years ago. I'm a native of another state and metro area that is different from OH. Ohio, JMO, has more government corruption (all states have a little), it's government is not "open", IOW it's difficult to access information about legislative operations, budgets, laws...
Flawed human beings? They were two kind, compassionate people who were accomplished and successful in their professional fields. According to public record and their friends, they were charitable people who didn't hesitate to help those who needed it. While one child had mental illness, they...
The prosecution is keeping a lid on any details, but I've got a strong hunch that they will have the evidence they need to convince the jury that NR knew what he was doing and that it was wrong. There are so many clues already known to indicate that, the biggest clue being that he waited...
Sorry for all the weird formatting. Any time I try to cut and paste from Missouri Case.net into Websleuths while using my I-pad, it always gets messed up. My Windows based laptop works better for that.
Louis Angles is the judge in this case and its in Clay County, MO.
It's rather frustrating to think they may have the evidence they need to arrest the killer, but are perhaps taking a too conservative approach to completing the DNA portion of the investigation. JMO
Here’s the latest from Missouricase.net

I've wondered the same. My only guess is that, if they have a good DNA sample from the killer, they're not using genetic genealogy or trash picking because the prosecutor is being overly cautious.
