This is exactly right, TexMex. Mississippi and Alabama Governors are stepping way back from any comments or criticisisms of Gov Blanco but you can see that their leadership has gotten the ball rolling in their states because they knew exactly what to do and when to do it.
We don't have children living at home so I wouldn't worry about that if we took in strangers. I'd consider taking in an elderly couple...maybe two couples...or a Mom with young children....until other living arrangements could be made for them....for say; a few months?
Better still, I liked...
Our first line of defense in any disaster is our state and local government. That's important to know and understand...today!!! before it happens.
It is true fact that the state of La (Gov Blanco) did not request federal assistance until Wednesday night in her personal call to Bush...and that...
Looks like aid will have to be taken to the storm victims instead of them trying to get out.

Interesting that you mention that. I have a friend in Dallas who is a forsenic volunteer with FEMA. She left Sunday for New Orleans. So, they know the magnitude of what they're dealing with.
DK, I don't think that's very sympathic to say that right now.
The levees were built 30yrs ago in preparation for a Cat 3 storm. That was then. This is now. To imply they had it coming doesn't sound right to me, IMO
This is the saddest thing I've ever seen.
I grew up in Fla. Hurricanes were a fact of life after my parents moved the family there in 1945. Every summer, it seemed, my Dad had a worried look as he packed us all up and made a bee line for North Carolina to get out of the way of another...
Holy Moly ! Hasn't this guy learned anything? Sooner or later we're going to have a forum on him for a trial. But, given his "family and personal history", it will all be about some woman trying to shake him down. Right?
Willy has some serious problems.
I agree, capps
Anyone could invade that house. Especially, someone on a mission of revenge...or simply a killer that watched and stalked the family and JonBenet.
Start with entry. Someone (as Smit demonstrated) could enter through the broken window in the train room...push open the door and...
Trust me, capps....I don't recall reading your post on that thread but we're all bound to reach the same conclusions...sooner or later, don't you agree?
A "hit man"? hmmmmmmmm
IMO, if JAR was going to silence JonBenet he'd have done it himself and that would be HIS DNA in her undies...and it isn't HIS. The DNA doesn't belong to a Ramsey. So.....who's is it?...his alibi buddies?
Blue Crab, do you really believe a 20yr old college...
Well, hold on Capps. I didn't say it could not have happened. In fact..what I said was; if there was a way to crack JAR's alibi...THEN...we're off to the races. (parapharasing)
I still think, given the lack of (known) evidence naming a family member as a suspect, there's still the question of...
Hi Blue Crab,
The above theory makes sense but what about the DNA under JB's fingernails and on her undies? Neither are a match to a Ramsey.
If one of JAR's friends should refute his alibi statement or give testimony about having flown him out of Boulder on Christmas night or early next...
Mason is still planning to marry her????????? Wow...has he seen her rap sheet? Doesn't he read WS???????????
Well.....there goes another volunteering victim.
Capp,
It makes perfect sense to me. I don't believe the Ramsey's would have allowed a second person to escape justice even if it meant Burke was involved...especially an adult person. It's the one issue in the BDI theory that completly turns me away from it.
It's also incredible to believe...
