    Verdict Watch

Something to think about if you are ever foreman of a jury: Going through every piece of evidence, every witness, every circumstance carefully before taking an anonymous straw vote is a good idea. That way each piece of evidence can be discussed before anyone even has to write a vote on a...

^You are right I think. Someone who wanted her jewelry would either dump out the drawers into a bag and leave the drawers themselves discarded on the floor or take the entire box. And the twig story is just absurd. I can't imagine why the jury would even consider anything in the testimony...

I could be completely mis-remembering, but I recall him saying the he did break some twigs off of the shrub that was there. I suppose I could re-watch his testimony, but it would upset my stomach too much to be worth the effort. In any event, it appears that they keep that area well swept, so...

It makes me shudder, too, RaleighNative. My friend who works in Emergency Rooms (in big cities) says that Hollywood often gives people a false impression of how much effort it will take to kill someone. In the movies, strangulation death takes 20-30 seconds, max, and a single knife wound or...

JS seems calmer, says it's the first time he's ever had a list of requests that begin each item with: "If possible . . . " He thought that is nice to see.

I am stunned that the jury can't have any evidence (not even photocopies of emails) in the jury room. Strange law to me; it was different in the state where I served. We had all the evidence with us in the jury room except the cocaine.

JS is looking a bit uncharacteristically exasperated here. Jury has Q's to submit and wants to take lunch.

State vs Jason Lynn Young 6-23-11

Before the trial is over, and before we know the final outcome, I feel like some thank you's are in order. Thank you, Sheriff Donnie Harrison and your law enforcement team, for the determined work of the WCSO on this case. Thank you, detectives and crime lab specialists, for being so...

Could be wrong here, but didn't someone say that the 911 call tape given to the jurors had CY's comments near the end edited out as just blank air time?

By the way, imho he made another cash gas purchase at the same time he was getting dinner at the Cracker Barrel. The dinner was a cover for stopping at that time (he knew he's be pinging that cell tower during the stop.)
