I second this statement.
I went to a BBQ over the weekend and there was discussion about Jill Meagher. I couldn't believe 2 out of 6 women were criticising her decision to walk home alone (this sparked much debate). An equal amount of guys were there who were all very sombre about the case...

It just doesn't happen here though. Also, Australian based crimes should use acronyms that are suitable for our country. We don't refer to Police as 'LE'.
The Australian environment isn't as sensationalist like the US. Police aren't throwing it all out there for the nation to read.
I do too.
I expect there is a PR 'damage control' exercise going on within the Victorian Police Force. If he was on parole AND he's a registered sex offender, there will be many questions.
Personally I wouldn't blame the Police. Honestly, what can they do .... sleep beside cretins like...
I'm sure I read somewhere that offenders who commit crimes against women and children are considered low life (s) who are unfortunately afforded protection. I think high profile criminals aren't overly popular either.
Remember the 'Mornington Monster' John Sharp? I don't believe he mixes...
Coburg neighbour Dale Trotter said he saw at least two cars pull up outside the Coburg house where Bayley lives at about 2am on Saturday morning.
"I saw some cars rock up. I didn't suspect anything of it," Mr Trotter said.
Another neighbour, Trish Murray, said she noticed up to four cars...
BBM. Anyone notice the slip up? I'm wondering if BH did have an accomplice and he was a driver and witness (not involved in the gory stuff)???
I thought the Police were quick to say he acted alone.
It depends on what Police class as 'significant criminal history' I guess. I refuse to believe that he was cruising along late Friday night/early Saturday morning and just snapped and decided to carry out a heinous crime.
I bet you there were snow dropping allegations, assault etc.
Whoops, that'd be me. Sowee. I'm supposed to be working on a project, Twittering at the same time, reloading WS, checking news sites ... ah, multi-tasking.
They're not just Twitter rumours. The Police media unit have released an official statement informing the public of an arrest. They wouldn't faff about with stuff like that.
They know who it is, he hasn't been charged with anything other than abduction - my guess is to hold him until further...
I dearly hope she is being held somewhere. Being held captive would be something ongoing counselling could eventually heal.
Perhaps they can only bring him in on abduction charges until they find her ... I don't want to even type the word.
The only downside to this, where is she? He's only been charged with the 'abduction' of Jill :)
Now all the finer details will emerge.
My head's spinning:
- Is this the same guy that is responsible for other attacks/rapes
- Where is Jill
- Did Detectives know yesterday who they were...
