In a somber press conference Friday afternoon, Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones confirmed that Deputy Danny Oliver, a 47-year-old father of two daughters and 15-year veteran of the department, was killed by a shot to the head Friday morning in the parking lot of the Motel 6 at Arden and Ethan Way in Sacramento.

The deputy’s partner was able to return fire, but it was unclear whether he struck the assailant, who fled and attempted to carjack another vehicle down the street in the 700 block of Howe Avenue.
The driver of that vehicle apparently refused to surrender the keys and was shot in the head. The victim, whose condition was not known Friday afternoon, fell backward into their car and the assailants fled.

Both were taken to Sutter Rosevillle Medical Center; the sheriff’s department confirmed about 4:20 p.m. that one of the deputies had died but the other would survive.
This is horrible. Such a tragedy. Two dead LE officers, a civilian shot in the head, multiple wounded...So unnecessary and tragic. Very glad they arrested the woman. Has the perp been arrested yet?
Prayers to all the families and friends of the fallen and wounded. God Speed.
