Friends and family were searching near Sherman Island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta for 27-year-old David Kempker on Monday, a week since he was last seen.

Kempker, who lives in Concord, was reported missing on Tuesday.

Missing person flyers have been posted in the area along Highway 160. Kempker's car was found by Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday along the highway in a remote area.

Kempker's loved ones describe him as an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing.

Kempker’s family reported him missing to Concord police on March 13 after he did not return home. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office assisted, and one of their deputies found Kempker’s abandoned truck on March 14 on a road off Highway 160 in Sherman Island.

“That first day, they searched for him with dogs and a helicopter,” Peters said. “Since then, they’ve also been out on the water looking. … The whole scenario is really suspicious.”

According to Peters, authorities found Kempker’s sweater and beanie outside the truck. Kempker also was (with) a friend who informed the family that he and Kempker had set out to go fishing. “He said that David left him behind,” Peters said. Police also have talked to Kempker’s friend, Peters said.

Kempker's abandoned truck was found by the Sacramento County Sheriff's office Wednesday, on a road off of Highway 160. It's not exactly clear what he was doing there, but he loves extreme sports and a friend said that he likes to "climb tall objects" and is worried he might have fallen.

Police say Kempker was with a childhood friend when he was last seen. That friend returned home safely and police say they have talked with him.

hmmmmm why mention that no one dislikes him?.....

A family friend, Adrian Morse, says Kempker was loved by many. "Nobody has a bad word to say about David," Morse said."I've never seen David at odds with anyone. I've never really seen him mad."

He was a good kid. Not a friend of mine but he did some electrical work on my house recently. He was very polite and professional.
Perhaps mentioning that no one disliked him was that his family doesn't want people to get the wrong idea with all the tattoos - I'm just speculating. There are still a lot of people that affiliate that look with the fringe or gang stuff. Regardless, not the case here. It breaks my heart. He really is just an innocent kid.
Ive been praying for his family and friends.

This friend that was the last person to see David needs to be more forthcoming with authorities. Names of other people and what not.
He owes it to David's family.

Is that last person the same friend, Adrian, that mentioned him being so likeable?

FYI this is very close, a bag of human remains was found very close to where he went missing from

The bag floating on the river was found near the same area missing man David Kempker's vehicle was discovered. Kempker has been missing since mid-March.

FOX40 spoke with his mom, Janis Descalzo, Monday on the phone regarding Sunday's discovery.

‘We thought the worst. It seemed likely given the area where David's truck was found and where these remains were found,’ Descalzo said. ‘It's relatively close. It's not directly in the same area.’

While the coroner in Sacramento County has yet to identify the remains, as of Monday afternoon Descalzo said she was informed by a detective with the Concord Police that his initial inclination was that the body found was not that of Kempker.

‘He did indicate that he did not believe at this point that the remains found in Isleton belong to David,’ she told FOX40.

But without any official confirmation one way or another, Descalzo is stuck in limbo.

‘If it ended up to be him at least it would be closer,’ Descalzo said. ‘It's not the ending I want but at least I'd know.’” (BBM)

Concord man still missing, a year after vanishing in delta

It’s been a year since 27-year-old David Kempker vanished, and his family and friends want answers.

“Somebody knows something,” friends repeated, almost like a mantra, throughout the course of a candlelight vigil they held for Kempker on Tuesday, exactly a year to the day that he was last seen in the early hours of the morning in the area of Sherman Island, in Sacramento County.
