"But our media simply do not cover the non-Muslim terror attacks with same gusto. Why? It’s a business decision. Stories about scary “others” play better. It’s a story that can simply be framed as good versus evil with Americans being the good guy and the brown Muslim as the bad.
Honestly, when is the last time we heard the media refer to those who attack abortion clinics as “Christian terrorists,” even though these attacks occur at one of every five reproductive health-care facilities? That doesn’t sell as well. After all we are a so-called Christian nation, so that would require us to look at the enemy within our country, and that makes many uncomfortable. Or worse, it makes them change the channel."

Turkey Identifies Club Gunman; Erdogan Speaks to Nation
ISTANBUL Jan 4, 2017, 10:35 AM ET

rbbm.It said the suspects were from the largely Muslim Russian republic of Dagestan, from China's Muslim Uighur minority and from Syria. It said they are thought to have lived with the nightclub attacker.
IS has claimed responsibility for the attack, which also wounded nearly 70 people. Of those killed, 27 were foreigners, many from the Middle East. Islamic State said a "soldier of the caliphate" had carried out the mass shooting to avenge Turkish military operations against IS in northern Syria.
The private Dogan news agency said that Wednesday's police operation targeted three families who had arrived in Izmir about 20 days ago from Konya a city in central Turkey where the gunman is thought to have been based before carrying out the nightclub attack. It said 27 people, including women and children, were taken into custody.
At least 16 people were previously detained in connection with the attack, including two foreigners stopped Tuesday at the international terminal of Istanbul's Ataturk Airport after police checked their cellphones and luggage, according to Anadolu.
Anadolu also reported that an array of military hardware was discovered during the raids, including night-vision equipment, a sniper scope, an ammunition belt and other items. Twenty children found at the addresses were taken into temporary care.
rbbmOn Monday, police released a video that the suspected gunman apparently took of himself in a market near the nightclub.
The "selfie video" featuring the man in Istanbul's Taksim Square was first posted on a pro-ISIS Telegram account before Turkish media broadcast it, said Laith Alkhouri, a director at Flashpoint, an American business risk intelligence company tracking terrorist and cyber threats.
Alkhouri told CNN that such a release suggests the attacker was part of a network supportive of or linked to ISIS, and that he had shared the selfie footage with the terror group before or after the attack.
rbbmAll the more surprising that his wife would have noticed nothing at all...... or so she claims.
IMHO we are witrnessing a new type of Jihadist. Like in Berlin, this terrorist does not seem to be on a suicide trip, getting away without getting caught is part of the plan.
So they can strike again.
[h=1]Russia orders inquiry into claims of FGM in Dagestan[/h] Human rights groups allege female genital mutilation has been carried out on tens of thousands of girls in North Caucasus
The Guardian has seen interviews conducted by Moscow-based journalist Marina Akhmedova, who recently travelled to Dagestan to research FGM in the area. She said female cutting was linked to the lack of rights for women in Dagestan, their low status within the family and limited work opportunities.
She said many of the women she interviewed talked about the threat of honour killings if a girl did not behave according to adats (mountain law).

If in fact the perp/s are connected to Dagestan, it is easy to see why a woman/wife might not dare to say anything at all!
Maybe some of the wives wish the terrorist missions still included suicide(lol)
imo, speculation.

One part of the plan I can understand, namely that a terrorist travels with his wife and young children so they do not attract attention.
But what about the next stage? He planned his escape, he got away and disappeared. He is probably on the run or has returned to ISIS county. Or to Europe, which heaven forbid.
What about the family? Did he simply drop them? Did he care? Had he planned to be reunited, to be able to return unseen and did something go wrong because he was rapidly identified? After all, he forgot his money in clothes that he left behind in the kitchen of the nightclub and could not pay the taxi ~ how bright is that?
I am very curious about the role of the woman in all this, and I would not count on her passivity.
[h=1]Brussels attacks bombers 'forced to leave 2 bombs behind because taxi driver only had room for 3 bags'[/h]
The Brussels airport suicide bombers forced to leave two explosives at home when their taxi arrived to collect them and only had room for three bags.
Brahim El Bakraoui, on-the-run suspect Najim Laachraoui, along with an unidentified bomber, reacted angrily when the cab driver told them they would have to leave the suitcases behind, it's reported.
The men also wouldn't allow the unwitting driver to load the suitcases - packed with explosives - into the car, according to Belgian media.
In seven minutes everything changed. That's how long it took for a gunman to kill 39 people inside. That's how long the gunfire lasted, according to staff members.
On the lower level a gas canister sits alone. Intact on one side, it is pierced by bullet holes on the other.
Video has shown the attacker shooting at it, apparently intent on making it explode. He failed. There was no gas inside.
He was going table to table and shooting people point blank.
Two 'terrorists' armed with machine guns, grenades and a rocket launcher have been killed in a shoot-out with Turkish police while a third is on the run after a deadly car bomb outside a courthouse.
A police officer and a courthouse worker were killed in the blast, in the western city of Izmir, and five were injured - some critically - before police shot dead two attackers in a gunfight that was caught on camera.

Car bomb incident in Turkey today I think we are going to need a thread for Turkish incidents as I think these attacks are going to become a regular occurrence there. Please do not think of traveling to Turkey at the moment if you are planning too it's too dangerous especially for places tourists might go to.
Pathetic, there has been so much going on the last week - do we know where he is? I can not keep up the 18 wheeler Berlin was killed right ?
but i do not recall anything about him on this one

Two Chinese citizens held over Istanbul nightclub attack which killed
