You know they had to know there world was caving in on them. Both had warrants, Zahra's dead, they knew it was only a matter of time before LE showed up.

Best thing they can do now is fess up and tell where she is ... fall on your sword and the justice system. I hate it when these perps just sit tight and let LE waste TONS of resources searching and investigating. They usually end up charged anyway so ... cut the ....

I personally feel crimes such as this, where priceless resources are wasted then the perps should face an even higher set of charges for wasting time.

Game over guys.

Me either.... (catching up, we went to dinner)

I don't think it is possible for her to live in THAT attic- but beyond that I just don't believe that woman..

When asked how many people were on the lease she responds THREE then in the next breath says it names only EB and AB (who was the third then-- gotta love those unconscious slips)

At this point in time even if you lived next door to the family at one time would you seriously be coming out in the media saying you witnessed abuse, but you are just one more person who didn't report it? Who wants the willing tell the world you let a child die-- (plus claim the SM was evil but allow your kids to play over there? wouldn't you have the kids play at your place where there wasn't a crazy person?)

ok think i caught up to the point where i left....
ITA...and they said that they would take it out to the parking lot and run at each other but never seen them hit one another...:waitasec:

OK.. and the picture fell off her wall because they where what..?? throwing themselves into the walls... give me a break...

Hmmmmmmmmm..I could take a guess what happened to the closet door...

Check this video out (Oz 60 mins show on liars, featuring John Sharpe) then AB's video again and tell me what you see.

Excellent links, darnudes. Fascinating stuff, and John Sharpe still pisses me off with that performance!

I remember reading once that detectives should have a colleague who is a mother of several teenage kids involved when questioning suspects - because mums are so experienced at knowing when someone is trying to stretch the truth.

Completely OT: I haven't watched 60 Minutes for years. Hasn't Liz Hayes aged?!

ETA: totally agree with the "Tuesday" slip by AB - I bet that was the last time her saw her.

I'm flabbergasted Zahra had to have her hearing aid's donated. I mean, it's not as if they are new technology with a hefty price tag.

I worked with a girl that had hearing aid's - she constantly needed them adjusted, checked and serviced by an ear specialist. From what we know now, I bet regular checks weren't part of SM & AB's fabric.

Back to the girl I worked with, she would politely request that we shouldn't yell or raise our voices for her to hear us ... apparently it can actually hurt their ears. If Zahra was yelled at constantly, imagine the pain in her ears.

ETA: Any new updates from the US? We seem to be getting yesterday's news about Zahra from our news sources.

Those batteries are a pain in the neck. They wear out fast, I bet poor little girl got at least one smackin' for not remembering to turn them off or slip the battery out when she removed them. Maybe she "chose" to just not wear them after a few smackings because better to just go without them than risk getting hit for forgetting to take battery out every night.

These people make me sick.

There is NO way those hearing aides remained on when not in her ears- they make the most God-awful whistling nose you can't miss it.

I have to say my daughters batteries use to last a couple of weeks and she wore them all time.

I would also think when she got the aides they also gave her extra batteries (and they come 6 to 8 in a package)
I think whatever happened EM simply forgot the aides or Zahra didn't like wearing them- kids go through phases where they love their aides and wear them all the time to hating them and it being a fight to get them to put them on.

That is wild you know about Cleveland, TN. Not many people do.

Sadly one of THE things Cleveland is known for is one of the first child abuse cases (the torture/murder of Melisha Gibson by her step-father and mother) to bring child abuse to light.

I was only 8 at the time, but remember it like it was yesterday. They tortured her, made her drink tobasco sauce, etc. It was horrible.

However, about a year before that, they lived in the apt. behind me & it was a summer night so we had our bedroom window open, which faced hers, and I remember not being able to sleep because I kept hearing a little girl crying.

My mother told me not to worry, she was just probably crying not wanting to go to sleep.

We were wrong. The next morning, police were there and the parents were arrested for "burning her with cigarettes".

Melisha was then placed into foster care while they served an 11 month 29 day sentence in jail. As soon as they got out, she was given back to them.

Within only several months, they killed her.

Like I said, it seems like yesterday. I guess that is why I get so caught up in these cases.

Sorry I went O/T there. Even though it was horrible and tragic, I think some good did come out of it. But, apparently not enough.

Just when you think you have heard the worst, something else comes along.

Heartbreaking story...I remember when that happened, I believe it was in late 1976 or early 1977, however I was in my early thirties and had two children at the time..... I'm 30 miles south west of Cleveland, Tennessee

Am I the only one that thinks there might be some truth to the attic story? I mean honestly if you heard a noise coming from your attic would the first thing you thought it could be was a child? My first thought would be an animal too. As far as them coming out about it now it was probably an "OH MY GOD" moment for them after hearing about Zahra. A light bulb moment so to speak where they were like "omg that little girl was probably what we heard in the attic when we lived here".

I know people are questioning the school thing. They could have taken her out of the house early morning hours when every one was in bed and if school got out about 2 or 3:00 they may have not seen her if they were employed.

Err, I thought the door was missing, but can't recall all the details of what they said. At any rate, the presence of a ladder wouldn't stop adjacent things from getting scuffed, as people (possibly carrying boxes, etc) went up and down. And recalling the pictures of that attic and having recently ventured into a fairly similar attic in a house I own, my guess would be that the closet door was taken off and used to provide a patch of makeshift flooring in the attic. I happened to have some old boards in the garage that I threw into service, but a narrowish closet door would have worked great.

Here's the original footage of the 4.11 min interview with AB and the reporter from wsoc tv, just for any sleuths who like to try and read body language.

In this clearer video I see:

micro expressions of disgust and slight sneers when talking about Zahra at the beginning of video and her cancer
shaking head no when he should be shaking his head yes
dupers delight with the date stumble
distancing himself from EB by calling her "her mom"
wants anyone to come forward with any information - shaking his head no
upper lip rage/disgust when asking for information/people to come forward
"I haven't thought about my wife" shaking head yes when should be shaking it no
right at then end the reporter is shaking his head and thanking him and AB looks up and to the side - meaning did they buy my story?

The door was missing, I'm sorry I should have said door frame.

Behind the Ear hearing instruments are quite expensive. They start out around $1,500 each. They can cost as much as $3,000 or $4,000 each. I am a hearing instrument repair tech and work alongside a dispenser. I was floored when I saw the price!

NO, I honstly think after seeing the photos it is much more probable that the adults were accessing the attic as a stash or party spot. Because of the details about the dividing wall being busted down, from a legal standpoint it would be much more dificult to prove which tenant had placed contraband there in the event of a drug bust.

In order to know if I am right in this speculation I woudl need to know if the Baker apt. had the only access or each apt. on that floor had an access point similar to the one in their apt.

I couldn't really tell because the video link was very fuzzy visually and the sound quality was bad...

I wish we could let Dr. Ekman have a stab at that video- and some video of Terri Horman right after that!

Thanks for posting these....

You lost me there. Druggies getting up early in the morning, on a very regular basis, with nobody dragging them out of bed?

You're welcome. :)

OT: It was a good story and well done, I love Dr Ekman. I'm amazed Eddie didn't try to cull Liz when he was there - you know they don't like the older ladies on Oz TV. Still in the dark ages.

RSBM: Absolutely, darnudes, and I can also see these telltale signs in interviews with people like Josh Powell (grrr). So frustrating to watch, but then I am sure LE can also see the signs.

Hearing aides are not cheap, they can cost a couple of thousand dollars and most insurance policies don't cover them, the technology is constantly improving which then raises the prices.

A child Zahra's age will have to get new molds made periodically but the aides themselves won't need replacing for years.
