I think it is just to show the jury what his tastes are and what his character is like. I am a bit surprised that it got included in evidence, since the FBI also have a case pending against Ewing for kiddie *advertiser censored*.

That makes more sense then, I had forgotten about that.

Sometimes it is hard to post about a trial that isn't about murder and this is a totally different subject matter but a very important one. I appreciate those that are reading! I do not know any of these people. jmo

‘Justice was served’: Holton, Kan., jury finds Ewing guilty in rape and sodomy trial

HOLTON, KAN.
A jury found Jacob Ewing guilty Friday on 11 of 12 charges, including two counts of rape, four of aggravated criminal sodomy and two of battery in a case that has gripped this small Kansas town.

As the verdict was read, friends and family of the victims could be heard gasping and murmuring, “Yes.” Ewing’s mother, Wendy, simply looked down to her lap, her manner appearing stricken. Jacob Ewing stared ahead with a blank look on his face.

The trial stemmed from two incidents involving separate women, who were 18 and 21 at the time of the sex crimes, which occurred about a year and a half apart, in September 2014 and May 2016.

Ewing now faces a maximum sentence of about 26 years in prison, prosecutor Jacqie Spradling said.

Parents of one of the victims held hands as they awaited the verdict and later hugged Spradling and Lisa Hyten, the victims advocate in Jackson County, Kan.

Other family members and friends of the victims embraced.

“Justice was served for these girls ... finally,” said one of the victim’s mothers after the verdict was read. “I’m just numb. I cannot believe it. I’m just very thankful, thankful to all the jurors.”

I wonder if anyone else in his personal circle of friends or family members will also be implicated in the kiddie *advertiser censored* case......
 
July 27 is sentencing for Ewing, and also a prelim for the kiddie *advertiser censored* case the FBI has against him. Another trial involving a different victim starts on August 28. This is promising to be a very busy summer for him.

Jacob Ewing to stand trial for sexual exploitation of child in November, won’t face trial for additional rape charges

Jacob C. Ewing, a Holton man found guilty of raping two women and acquitted of charges involving an underage girl, won’t stand trial for additional charges of rape, but he will face trial for attempted rape and felony charges of sexual exploitation of a child.


Jackson County District Judge Norbert Marek ruled Thursday to allow a jury to decide if Ewing knowingly viewed sexually explicit images of a 17-year-old girl. Meanwhile, at the request of special prosecutor Jacqie Spradling, Marek dismissed charges of rape scheduled for trial in August and denied a motion from defense attorney Kathleen Ambrosio to retry charges Ewing was found guilty of in June.

The otherwise mundane hearing saw emotions spill over when a relative of Ewing confronted a reporter and the sheriff’s office victim coordinator, prompting Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies to address Ewing’s family.

I didn't see anything in todays hearing about sentencing so I asked Luke Ranker the reporter on FB. I am waiting as answer.

I got an answer: It is supposed to be in September!
