Dark Minds Episode on the LISK airing 4/23

Any more info on the person that might have had these in his/her house? If they are indeed hand made and someone purchased them, it should be easy to trace them back to the maker.

What doesn't make sense to me is how personal Amber's seems to be. It's not a nice doll that a local would place at a memorial site. Maybe the other girls dolls, though still creepy to me personally, could be passed off as well someone thought they were trying to be nice because there is nothing crude or angry about the face...but to me, it seems very obvious that Amber's doll was made to offend, be hurtful, and freak everyone out. Put in context with the other 3 dolls they all together come off weird and haunting.

I don't think the person that placed them there bought the dolls. I think they handmade the dolls themself.

Without digging through all the threads, I think I remember that "The Drifter" in the book Confessions of the Oak Beach Drifter talked about having a collection of dolls. I think it was "Living Dead Dolls" He also had some other dolls (superheros I think) If memories serves me. I remember because I thought it a coincidence that here is this guy "W" who was a doll collector and supposedly lived with JB and then these Time out dolls pop up. Does anyone else remember that?

Just thought I'd throw that back in, since we are discussing the dolls again. I haven't seen the Dark Minds episode yet, but hope to be able to view it tommorrow.

I've been thinking about those dolls and to me they are shameful.

Someone would of course had to of put them there to represent the girls. Or at least one would think. And they look shameful. Like shame on them for being escorts or something.

Then the ones who don't look so shameful look more disrespected to me.

But I'm having a hard time looking at a few.

Yeah, I kinda got the impression that the Time Out dolls were significant. Think about it. When a child has been naughty, they get put on time out. It was almost as if whoever left the dolls was saying that they 'needed" to be put on time out. Implying that they had been naughty girls. Didn't the killer tell MB's lil sister that he killed her because she was a *advertiser censored*? Maybe he's punishing the victims and leaving hints as to why he killed them. Or, maybe the dolls were just left by some well wishers but I think if that were the case, that person would've come forward and let it be known. Purely speculation on my part of course.

i keep thinking this has been left there by someone, as a sick sort of prank or with good intentions that got picked up entirely wrong. not by the killer. just my feeling.

The thought ran threw my mind that some old little grandma may have post them there and has no idea she has caused a ws mystery!

Maybe that's why they finally put it in the show so maybe someone comes forward.

But honestly I just get a creepy feeling off them.

A well-wisher would have to be pretty twisted to leave those creepy dolls as a gesture of sympathy. Come on. At least one of the dolls was mutilated. I don't think the person placing the dolls there made them. If it was the LISK it was a male. The LISK is very careful and plans things out. I don't think he would be caught going in a crafts store to buy materials necessary to make the dolls. He is more careful than that. In any event they are easy to buy. They seem to be fairly expensive (anywhere from $20 to $120). Would a well wisher or a prankster spend that much money? They could have been ordered very anonymously from online sites such as ebay. I lean toward a sick prankster with too much time on his hands. I think the LISK is too careful to risk leaving evidence and clues for LE but who knows. Maybe he was craving attention since he was no longer getting any from the media.

I would be curious to know when "W" wrote about the dolls. Was it before or after the dolls were placed at the memorial? Would also love to know who had dolls like that in their house. Are we talking about "W" or JB?

Here...It was on page 288 of the book that can be read here. I never did buy the book and finish reading but this was one thing I did read that stood out. I can't copy paste so hopefully this link takes you to page 288 where he talks about his doll collections.

I see from this exert from the book it was copyrighted in 2012. The dolls were placed at the memorial on February 29, 2012. So most likely he wrote about the dolls before. Would he have placed dolls there knowing he had written about them already? I wouldn't think so.

Mainegirl

in another thread you stated, "I also heard on good word that another doll of a different sort was found near the bodies around the time the bodies were found."

(Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community)

Regarding the BBM portion... What sort of dolls were these??

I have no idea if any dolls have importance in this case but based on this and other info.... we have an "odd" (imo) doll collector at JB's house and TWO different SORTS of dolls... one type found with the bodies and later another type placed where the bodies were found.

Thanks Red. I hadn't thought of that. It sure wouldn't make any sense for him to do that. Just to be clear, I didn't see any mention of him collecting "Time Out Dolls" but just the fact that he was a doll collector perked my ears up. It's probably just a coincidence.

IMO this "guy", whoever "he" is smart and somewhat of a daredevil. Would he go back to the "dump sites" to place dolls? I think he might. He made the risky phone calls and the risky drives with a body in his trunk, he probably drove past the bodies often, to re-visit. That's all risky behavior.

If it wasn't important then why would, (was it a verified poster who said this?) the Police ask the families to keep the dolls hush? Why not "de-bunk" it publically?

I think it would have been very easy for the police to debunk the dolls as insignificant if they really felt that way. Instead the exact opposite has happened, anyone who knew about the dolls since 2012 was asked to keep it under wraps obviously not to compromise the investigation. I think we are hearing more about the dolls now because LE want us to. It's time to see if the dolls spark someone to come forward with a suspect.

I wish it got more publicity since dark minds. I have looked over over for news articles mentioning the dolls and re-visiting the case but there are none.

I just finally watched dark minds. I ordered the show onto my phone for 1.99 and I really liked the way he did the show.

I agree with other posters it was nice he added JT in there. I liked how he even started with her. And he didn't get into the doctor and the oak beach drama at all. Gave us something new to talk to us.

I question this "witness" and would like to know more. I think that there is truth behind this witness. I mean he interviewed Dormer also and I'm sure he asked him about the dolls and and the witness then in the end he decided to add them into the show.
I like Philphs. I've got just about every one of his books. He's a little dramatic at times and I like that cuz it gives me a little chuckle.

I also like this new idea I hear that he was dismembering others because those were the ones where someone may have seen them get into his car. That would make sense.

A third possibility is that he thinks he's so much smarter than everyone, including the cops, that he isn't worried because he thinks he's 3 steps ahead of everyone else.

I'm probably about to piss some people off. But at this point in time, for many reason, I'm done caring about pissing someone off.

The other doll was a Barbie Doll left in a manner that could indicate the person that left it COULD have had some knowledge of how the girls were dumped.

This is a tough call. The person known to have left the dolls, has displayed some very odd behavior. My question is if the behavior is so odd, that some of us would have to feel he wouldn't be capable of carrying these killings out for an extended period of time.
Then again, perhaps he's ready to be caught, or has gone off his meds, or has a worsening mental illness. If that was the case, could he have stopped himself from killing since the bodies were found, and probably ended up slipping up and getting caught?
Is he compensating for knowing he can't kill because it's too hot and is doing this instead.

Whoever is doing these killings could just be so entirely different than anything we've seen in the past... it's hard to guess what his motives or capabilities are.

There are some pretty crafty people here on Webslueths. Much smarter than me. I can't make up my mind on this.

Whoa. Just the fact that a Barbie doll was left there points to it more likely it being the SK.
Thank you for this info maingirl its very appreciated.

One thing that really stood out for me in the show was when Megan's mom was talking about her cell phone being left behind and that there's no way she would have went out without it unless it was with someone she was familiar with. Of course we have all felt this way all along but hearing it from her really brought it home. This wasn't Megan's first contact with this person, so the question is who or what type of person would she feel comfortable enough with to leave her cell phone behind. Its the same with Amber's case. She had been abused by a john before and was dropped off on the expressway IIRC. I can't see her going off without her phone after this unless it was with a regular costumer or someone that she trusted with her life.

I doubt the dolls were left by the killer. I can't see him taking that chance. If he wanted to rub it in there's more direct and less risky ways in which he could and has done that, like the calls made to the sister.

The calls being recorded question is still up in the air for me. If they were I cant figure out the reasoning for keeping them secret, hearing a snippet could make someone come forward with the golden tip.

The show itself could have done a little more imo. For instance the 96 victim sketch wasn't even shown from what I remember. I would have liked to see them go through the GB4 cases in the order they happened with last known locations, dates, times etc but I guess there's only so much you can cover in 43 minutes. I did like how they opened the show in Manorville.

I always thought kinda the same thing. I think both Megan and Amber have had contact with this person before and were 'familiar' with him. Megans mom said that Megan just like her is afraid of the dark and would have never gone outside all by herself so she must have known this person somewhat atleast and same goes with Amber, altho I firmly believe her addiction might have affected her judgement I think she just went out with this person, knowing who it was. With Melissa, it was mentioned that the day before she was secretive about a meeting right? And didn't the guy she was with mention she was close to a 'older guy' from LI?
