@layer I read your post in the end of the last thread and wanted to reply.

I think most all of us wish we understood something about this case. 2 girls walking on a trail in the middle of the day should be safe from predators.

I am not sure I ever understand things in the cases I follow, even once the trial is over. What my husband likes to remind me of is I will not understand and I shouldn't understand because I am not like the killer. I don't think like they do or act like they do. I shouldn't be able to understand why or how or any of it because if I encounted 2 girls on a bridge I would say hello and walk along. Most of us I don't think will understand this.

If it turns out to be RA who went to the trail that day with a gun and a knife and abducted and brutally murdered the girls, we will not understand it. There is no explanation that makes any sense to those of us who are in our right minds and who are law abiding citizens.

If it turns out to be some cult who for some reason decided to take 2 girls from a trail in broad daylight to do some sacrifice ritual thing in the woods, it won't make any sense.

It won't make sense that nobody heard them or that this couldn't be prevented somehow.

We know these things happen and we know evil exists, but I'm not sure we will ever really understand why. Good people shouldn't be harmed by bad people, but they are. Sometimes for nothing more than an odd fantasy, road rage, the way someone looked at the person, or for $5 in someone's wallet. It is senseless and I hope I NEVER understand it.

To comment on those 3 ex parte filings.

Just the meer fact that these ex parte communications were sent to the judge (I'm suspicious who, if anyone, entreated these writers) and it looks like collectively they were almost meant as a trap to get her disqualified? In reading the ABA's words...

"(A) A judge shall not initiate, permit, or consider ex parte communications, or consider other communications made to the judge outside the presence of the parties or their lawyers, concerning a pending* or impending matter,* except as follows:

(1) When circumstances require it, ex parte communication for scheduling, administrative, or emergency purposes, which does not address substantive matters, is permitted, provided:

(a) the judge reasonably believes that no party will gain a procedural, substantive, or tactical advantage as a result of the ex parte communication; and

(b) the judge makes provision promptly to notify all other parties of the substance of the ex parte communication, and gives the parties an opportunity to respond."

(...) There is more to read about this here...

Now they're filed for the public to see and contain a lot of the things the defense is under gag order not to talk about...coincidence? I think not. AJMO

INDIANAPOLIS — 13News has learned more information about jury selection and logistics for the upcoming Delphi murders trial.

Special judge Frances Gull told 13News she expects jury selection to take approximately three days when the trial for defendant Richard Allen begins in Fort Wayne on May 13. She said the jury would then be sworn in on the fourth day, with opening statements beginning by Day 5. That means the jury could start hearing testimony on Friday, May 17.

After jury selection, the actual trial phase of the proceedings will take place at the Carroll County Courthouse in Delphi. Gull confirmed Allen’s trial will take place six days a week — Monday through Saturday — if there are no religious objections from any of the jurors.

……
She said the jury will hear testimony from roughly 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day of the trial. The Carroll County Courthouse closes at noon on Wednesdays, but the judge plans to keep the trial going on Wednesday afternoons through the end of the day.

The judge has scheduled three weeks for the entire trial and expects it to be completed by May 31. So far, she has not approved any media requests for cameras in the courtroom.

The jury (including several alternates) will be from Allen County, and jurors will be transported 100 miles to Delphi for the trial.

They will be sequestered the entire time.
…….
Each juror will receive $80 per day for the first five days of the trial. After that, they’ll earn $90 per day for their service. Those rates are set by state law.
