Circumstances:
Marguerite was last seen at her residence on Shelby County Rd 26 in Alabaster between November/December 1989 she was 76 at the time of her disappearance. Family members had inquired about Marguerite however was told by her son that she left with an unknown woman referred to as Cousin Jane and moved to a Seminole Amish Indian Reservation in Florida. Marguerite’s brother in law reported her missing in February 1991.

In 2013 SCSO used cadaver dogs to search the Marguerite’s property in which produced no evidence of Marguerite’s remains. Later a dive team searched for her in a nearby lake and several ponds no remains were ever found.

Little is known about retired nurse Marguerite Hoffman, who was last seen at her residence on Shelby County 26 in Alabaster, close to the Columbiana border, in November or December of 1989. She was 76 at the time of her disappearance.

According to Cold Case Squad Investigator Ray White, it wasn’t until February 1991 that Marguerite Hoffman was reported missing by her brother-in-law, George Huffman.

“That’s when family members said, ‘Where is she? What’s going on here?’ White said.

According to White, it took the family nearly two years to report her missing, because her son told them that she left with an unknown woman referred to as “Cousin Jane,” and went to Florida.

Just to add, her son moved in with her only 3 weeks before she disappeared.

Fairly close to the Marguerite home. 20+/- miles. Wonder if there is any connection to the steel fabrication plant across the street.
