Probably unrelated but thought I would bump her thread with this:

Partial human remains found by hikers near the Cahaba River

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after hikers discovered human remains along a creek bank near the Cahaba River Saturday afternoon.

According to Deputy Randy Christian, the hikers were in the wooded area behind the Cahaba Forest Cove neighborhood in southern Jefferson County when they found the remains. They exited the woods and called the Sheriff’s Office.

Christian says the remains are so badly decomposed that is was not possible to determine race or gender at the scene.

*modsnip/i leave this post on purpose to highlight we have two women missing, please check both threads, they are now separated*

Um, mods-- there are TWO different women named Britney Bailey missing in Birmingham. They have different first name spellings and different ages and circumstance descriptions and their photos are different women (IMO). PLEASE separate their threads again as they were. Thanks.

Different names, ages and dates missing (plus pictures) at links:

Brittney Bailey, 27, has not been seen since October 2016
Birmingham woman, 27, missing since October 2016

Brittany Baily, 29, has been missing since Dec. 22, 2016

Thank you! This is the 2nd time the threads had to be separated again, so it's good we have a note of it here.

Actually gender can be determined through the bones, but the Sheriff would have to snag a forensic anthropologist from the State as it's not something a layman forensic person would note. If the remains were female they would display an open, circular pelvic inlet, a broader sciatic notch, a wider angle where the two pubic bones meet in front, and more outwardly flared hip bones. Unfortunately, in remains that are out in the wild, wildlife can scatter the important pieces.
