Lauderdale Co. corrections officer missing in the line of duty | rocketcitynow.com

When she left the detention center, she informed the booking officer that she was going to drop the inmate off here at the courthouse with other deputies and that she was going to seek some medical attention because she wasn't feeling well. We confirmed that she never made that appointment. Wasn't exactly an appointment - she was going to one of the local Express Med kind of places and she never showed up there.

If I'm understanding this correctly, Vicki White (CO) stated she was going to take the inmate to the courthouse and hand him over to other deputies. I wonder if any other deputies have confirmed this.

Certainly a CO would make contact with the transfer location to make sure there would be another deputy to take custody of the inmate.

If the inmate threatened or forced the CO, he may decide to keep her with him due to her uniform, ID, badge. Hoping this will give LE time to find Vicki alive.

I also got the alert on my cell. All doors and windows are locked, and all dogs have free run of the house tonight. (For their protection)

This had to have been planned, well in advance. (IMO)

ETA: Once they ditched the magic bus in the shopping center, there was probably another vehicle waiting for them in the same parking lot. Hopefully, there were some surveillance cameras in the vicinity.

I’m betting they are feverishly trying to listen to his old phone calls. Wonder if he’ll/they’ll try for the border

What would be the nearest port of entry into Mexico? I tried to poke around and came up with Del Rio, TX (1,011 mi. from Florence, AL). Getting across the border is easy, it's getting back into the U.S. that is more difficult.

Her vehicle, a 2013 Ford Taurus patrol car, was first spotted in a shopping center parking lot around 11 a.m. by someone who was on a lunch break, Singleton said.
Around 3:30 p.m., officers at the jail were concerned and tried to reach her, but her phone kept going straight to voicemail. They then realized Casey White had not been returned to the jail.

BBM. So, she left the jail at 9:41 AM, and by 11 AM her car was already parked at the shopping center.

The crimes were followed by a chase, where speeds reached more than 100 miles per hour, WHNT reported.

It ended with a stolen car stuck in a field south of Huntsville, and officers - who were evidently well known to him - pleading with him to put down his gun and give himself up.

White got out of the vehicle with a gun and threatened to shoot officers and himself unless he could speak with Limestone Sheriff Mike Blakely.

Body-cam footage shows deputies attempting to get White to surrender by offering him smokeless tobacco and Sun Drop citrus soda while they waited for Blakely to arrive.

The fact he also has a history of running from the police and high speed chases makes this worse. The length of his rap sheet is already long enough. This guy is a real piece of work.

What about the fake bus?

"The marked 2013 Ford Taurus patrol car that they were in was later found at a shopping center, Singleton said."

Search underway for missing Alabama sheriff’s employee, murder suspect

Just my own opinion here.... I don't think anybody official ever mentioned a "fake bus. The article quoted is from "Ceng News" in New York City. Is this possibly an English-as-a-second-language site? The headline reminds me of the crazy results we get when using an online interpretation program. It's like "nonexistent (fake) appointment" somehow became "fake bus."

Is it normal for an inmate (let alone one facing a capital murder charge) to be transported to the courthouse for a mental health evaluation?

Alabama deputy, capital murder suspect missing after transport to courthouse – WVTM 13
<snipped & BBM>
In a news conference Friday evening, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Officer White, who is an employee of 25 years, told the booking officer at the detention center that she was escorting inmate White to the courthouse for a mental health evaluation. After dropping the inmate off with other deputies, Officer White said she was going to seek medical attention for herself because she wasn't feeling well.

[...]

Officials said the officer and the inmate never showed up to the courthouse and it has since been determined that the inmate did not have any evaluations scheduled. Local urgent care offices also have no record of Officer White visiting on Friday.

The way I see it either Officer White was blackmailed to "fake" the transport or she and the convict developed some type of relationship and came up with the escape plan together. There were just too many regulations and rules ignored for her not to know what was going on when she picked up the criminal.

Somewhere up thread, it was pointed out that CO White isn't safe with this guy even if they were in on the escape together. I wholeheartedly agree!

This is all my own opinion.

Any news about staffing shortages? Is this the first time an inmate was transported from that facility by only one officer?

Would be interesting to know if she had any large bank withdrawals, real estate sales, or other major transactions, and if she did, how would he know about it.

This guy has a long history of treating people as disposable. Even if she voluntarily helped him, I don’t expect him to keep her around after she has outlived her usefulness. This won’t be happily ever after.

Things are not always as they appear and a person can appear to be as guilty as hell when they are not.
My opinion is that Officer White was threatened by inmate White with harm to her Loved ones if she did not comply and assist him in escaping. Not hard to gather that info especially with outside help.

Why is he being listed as being in another detention facility

100% agreed. I'm leaning that way, too..Why would she throw her life and her pension away for this guy?
She's been a dedicated employee for twenty-five years. jmo moo
In what ways could he possibly hurt her Loved ones when he's behind bars?
