On Dec. 9, 1994, the same day she disappeared, Alisha (Leah) Germaine's body was found behind an elementary school on the outskirts of the city, not far from Highway 16. She died of multiple stab wounds.
Leah's aunt, Connie Menton, said Leah was born in Prince George. "She loved to sing and act ... Out of all my nieces and nephews, she was the most affectionate," Menton said.
Leah's behaviour worsened when her parents separated when she was about 14.
Relatives tried to get Leah off the streets, but she was strong-willed and didn't like authority figures.
"She had potential. We all make mistakes, but it didn't mean that mistake would be carried into her adult years," her aunt said. Menton believes Leah and Roxanne Thiara were friends and that their cases may be connected.
"She and Roxanne worked together, and Roxanne was trying to get off the streets, too," Menton said. She believes people on the street have information about her niece's case but are afraid to come forward.
