The prosecution unit of Romania’s directorate for investigating organised crime and terrorism (DIICOT) notified the Tate brothers on Tuesday that the human trafficking charge had changed to trafficking in continued form, a DIICOT spokesperson said. Under Romanian law, trafficking of adults carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

One more victim had been added to the case, which started out with six women, the spokesperson said.

Andrew Tate charged with rape and human trafficking

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been charged in Romania with rape, human trafficking and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.

His brother Tristan and two associates have also been charged. All have denied the allegations.
The Tate brothers were first arrested at their Bucharest home in December.

In March, they were moved from custody to house arrest following a ruling by a Romanian judge.

The indictment deposited with the Bucharest court says that the four defendants formed an organised criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries including the US and the UK.

It names seven alleged victims who it says were recruited by the Tate brothers through false promises of love and marriage.

Andrew Tate has been charged with raping one of the victims, while his brother has been charged with instigating others to violence.

The trial will not start immediately and is expected to take several years.

A Romanian a judge now has 60 days to inspect the case files before it can be sent to trial.

Andrew Tate's Romania house arrest lifted

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been freed from house arrest in Romania pending his trial on rape and human trafficking charges.

Andrew and his brother Tristan were arrested in March and charged in June. They deny the charges.

The pair can move freely around the capital, Bucharest, and the surrounding Ilfov district where they live.

They must report to police when ordered to, and inform them of any change of address.

They are also banned from contacting the two Romanian associates accused alongside them, the witnesses, or the alleged victims or their families.

Breaking these rules could lead to them returning to house arrest, or preventative detention.

A judge will check compliance with the conditions for the next 60 days.

"We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Romanian judicial system for their fair consideration," a spokesperson for the brothers said in a statement after the ruling.

"This positive outcome gives us confidence that more favourable developments are on the horizon."

Leaked internal chat logs identify 45 potential victims between March 2019 and April 2020 but the total number is likely to be higher.

However, the leaked online chats indicate the War Room teaches members through its so-called "PhD" course - the initials stand for "Pimpin' Hoes Degree" - how to groom women into sex work.

TWO ALLEGED VICTIMS of Andrew and Tristan Tate have filed a protective order to keep their identities confidential, citing intense doxxing and harassment from the Tates’ fans, associates, and even the brothers’ legal team, according to a filing obtained by Rolling Stone.

In early 2023, as Rolling Stone previously reported, the Tates sent a cease-and-desist letter to one of the alleged victims, threatening to sue them for $300 million if she did not retract her testimony to Romanian authorities.

According to the filing, the Tates’ attorney, Joseph McBride, has publicly posted private information about the accusers on his Twitter account, which has more than 105,000 followers.

Another clip from the article.

“So the press conference was about harassment and intimidation and ironically, [Andrew] Tate’s team decided to use that opportunity to disrupt the press conference by posing as journalists and asking inappropriate questions,” he said. “At the same time, in asking those questions, they were they were disclosing identifying information of victims and witnesses that shouldn’t be disclosed. So it’s just further demonstration of the lengths that his team will go to to try and prejudice proceedings and interfere with the course of justice, I would say.”

Some Andrew Tate supporters have suggested the women only came forward with claims of rape after Andrew Tate began flaunting his immense wealth on social media, suggesting they are expecting payouts in some way.

Jury pushed back against those allegations.

“To be fair to our clients, they took action immediately,” he said. “They reported it to the police. They did everything that they were supposed to do and society expects them to do. And the police failed them. The authorities failed them. And so they were left without any recourse to justice.”
