A search continues for a woman reported missing last week.

In a news release issued late Sunday night, the Newton County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) says crews looked for Pamela Samuels-Louro, 57 in an area near Mount Judea all day Sunday after her truck was found near the Sam's Throne Campground off Highway 123 south of town.

Sheriff Glenn Wheeler says the woman was reported as missing and endangered from Garland County. She was last seen on June 3 and had made reference to the Mt. Judea area to family.

Receipts in the truck showed her to have been in Western Grove on June 4, the sheriff said.

Bloodhounds and other K9s, along with ground searchers, searchers on mules, ATVs and UTVs and high angle personnel were used to search the area.

Some clues were found, the NCSO said, including several bits of evidence that indicate she may have been walking in the area and may be injured.

Sheriff Wheeler said authorities still have several ways to go with the investigation.

"We can't rule out the possibility that she made it back to the road and was picked up by someone. But, at the same time, we can't say that she's not still in the large wooded area near Sam's Throne," he said.

The woman is described as 5'5" tall and about 170 pounds with hazel eyes and grey hair cut very short. She is believed to be traveling with an older small white dog that is a Chihuahua-terrier mix. She often wears caps or beanies.

Sheriff Wheeler asks anyone who may have seen someone walking near Mt. Judea to call his office at (870) 446-5124.

Her post is the most recent post at the moment, but you may have to scroll. There are many comments, and some by people who were the last known people to see her.

The Arkansas Army National Guard is now searching for a woman in Newton County.

Pamela Samuels-Lourno is from Hot Springs. The 57-year-old woman told family members last Monday she’d be in Mount Judea.

Newton County deputies later found her pickup truck just south of there.

They believe she’s traveling with an older, small, white dog that is a Chihuahua-terrier mix, and had been in Western Grove June 4th.

The Newton County sheriff said bloodhounds caught her scent a couple times, but deputies have had no luck finding her.

The sheriff said Samuels-Lourno is described as 5'5", 172 pounds with hazel eyes and grey hair cut very short. She often wears caps or beanies.

“Today the Arkansas Army National Guard is assisting with helicopter with some cameras and flare capabilities. We are just going to try to cover some ground we can’t cover by foot," said Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler.

Wheeler asks that if you see Pamela do not approach her, but call the sheriffs office at (870) 446-5124.

Sheriff Wheeler said Pamela Samuels-Louro, aged 57 was last seen in Garland County on June 3rd and had made reference to the Mt. Judea area to family. Her truck was located Sunday morning near the Sam's Throne Campground off Highway 123 south of Mount Judea. Receipts in the truck showed her to have been in Western Grove on June 4th.

Several bits of evidence were located that indicate she may have been mobile in the area for a period of time and may be injured. Wheeler said authorities still have several ways to go with the investigation. "We can't rule out the possibility that she made it back to the road and was picked up by someone. But, at the same time, we can't say that she's not still in the large wooded area near Sam's Throne." Wheeler said there are some indicators of mental illness and she may be suicidal.

A human skull was found about a mile from the Sam’s Throne campsite in Newton County.

This is the same campsite where deputies found a missing woman’s truck in June.

Pamela Samuels-Lourno, 57, from Hot Springs was last seen in Garland County on June 3.

The sheriff says the terrain where the skull was found is very rugged with no road leading into it, which makes searching a little more difficult.

He plans to bring in cadaver dogs and crews to search for more of the remains.

Wheeler said he’s sending the skull to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to try to identify the remains.

According to the sheriff's office, the skull was found by a resident southwest of Sam's Throne near Mt. Judea on U.S. Forest Service land.

Deputies say the skull was the only thing found so far but investigators will continue to search the area for other remains.

"We can't say if this is Pamela or not, but I have notified the family of the information just in case," Sheriff Wheeler said.

Appears the dog was recently found. I cannot get at this article due to the pay wall on it.

Missing woman’s dog found; renewed search this weekend

Her pickup was located Sunday morning, June 9, near the Sam's Throne Campground off Highway 123 south of Mount Judea. Receipts in the truck indicated she had been in Western Grove on June 4.

Wheeler said the dog was located last weekend walking along Highway 123 near the entrance to Sam’s Throne Campground, but there was still no sign of Samuels-Lourno.

The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic to hold for the time being. “Her dog’s fine,” Wheeler said, adding that it was being held for family members to retrieve.

He also said searchers plan to have up to a dozen K-9 units in place for a renewed search this coming weekend. Those teams will include live-scent tracking dogs and cadaver dogs as well.

In the meantime, the sheriff said searchers were planning to take the dog back to the scene it was found in case it might lead them to her location Friday afternoon.

“It’s definitely a long shot, but it’s a shot,” Wheeler said. “We’re going to take it.”
