Here's something going through my brain right now...no mention has been made of finding a computer, or computer related equipment. Or camera equipment for that matter. He would have had to have an ISP and a computer available to him if he was taking the time to edit a gruesome video like this one. Surely he didn't take whatever device it was stored on and brought it to an internet cafe? I'm really not computer savvy, but if he used a hand held DVD recorder, or one on a tripod, then I assume the finished product is on a SD card?

Oh, and a huge thing (for me) from the press conference:

Montreal police will be looking at the animal abuse vids and will take the appropriate action.

If they would have put him in prison for animal abuse/torture and murder well, he would be behind bars right now.
They need to take this more serious in the future. How many experts need to repeat animal abuse equals a big red flag.

In the briefing going on right now, the police said they were waiting for 'biological evidence' that they now have. I am assuming DNA.

A hand, a foot and the head are still missing, according to police. No Indication they were mailed.

I haven't heard this specifically. Do you have a link?

Just read Justin's article (with link to WS!) and I'm dying to know who "Dave" is *lol* I'm too curious for aliases!!

Just watched the police news conference from Montreal. Here are some tidbits:

- police have "info", now their job is to proove it all

- not certain when he'll be back in Canada, no rush, lots of police work needs to be done, he's safely in prison so that's good

- paperwork is underway getting him extradited to Canada

- police have been in touch with the Best Gore site in Edmonton - police want Best Gore to help them make sure that the video doesn't spread any further (they seem to be saying they want the vid to be taken from the web)
- seemed to refuse to answer graphic questions (regarding body parts)

- I think more questions will be answered later on CBC Breaking (I had to feed my birds so I left the room)

The police are considering charges as well
This needs to be taken down IMO

Sorry, I don't have the link BUT this was said at this morning's press conference. I saw it on CBC Breaking News. Police have:
-one hand
-one foot
-torso

That seems to be all they were willing to discuss.

Am I correct in remembering that was one of the body parts that Dahmer ate and had specific reasoning as to why?

Given that Magnotta is documented cannibalizing an area I'd consider private parts, is it hard to believe he did the same with one's most private parts?

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S II

I don't think he ate it. There is no documented cannibalism. He simulates cannibalism, but that's yet another thing that is conveniently missing from the tape. I don't think he's a cannibal, i don't think he's a necrophile, I think he's all smoke and mirrors. He's a self promoting, mostly asexual, killer creep with way too much time on his hands to create all the smoke and erect all the mirrors right where he needs them.

Well, he was...now he's an inmate number, and nothing more.

So I've brought this up before but no one really responded. LE keeps saying that LM and Jun knew each other but won't expand on that. Do you guys agree that this means they have some sort of correspondence between the two? IMO that's going to help in court.

Yes, that is what the police have revealed and that there are body parts missing and they have NOT stated which parts are missing, from the media questions I have heard. There were parts located at the scene, from info given at when Luka was deemed a suspect in the case.

Well the news that he will not be able to delay his extradition is very heart warming!

Watched CTV news and they said while he did tell the German judge he won't fight extradition, he had not consulted with a lawyer and was free to change his mind. Let's hope some lawyer doesn't see this an a good payday and convince him otherwise. Then again, LRM doesn't look like someone who takes advice, not even his own.

Just remembered another BIG thing from the presser:

Police HAVE WATCHED THE VIDEO AT THE BEST GORE SITE. But, their job now is to VERIFY everything seen in the video.

I understood this to mean - police will leave no stone unturned (sorry! :)) in laying out their charges against him. They want this guy put away for the remainder of his days!

I am wondering how easy it will be for him to actually find a GOOD lawyer to take his case. The evidence seems overwhelming. I don't think I would want to touch it if I were a reputable defense lawyer.

I'm guessing that his laptop may have been collected by police - which forced him into an internet cafe.

"French media report some of Magnotta's belongings, including pornographic magazines, were found in a Paris hotel, and that police have been trying to track his movements through his cell phone activity."

Read it on Global News: Global News | Suspected killer Luka Magnotta arrested in Germany

And from earleir today in Berlin - he will not fight extradition BUT he DENIES the charges/involvement in this case!

No link, sorry. Can't remember where I saw/read/heard that. :what:

Legal question:

Is there a big difference between the way that the Canadian and American systems handle the inclusion/exclusion of evidence? In the American system, there are times when the judge seems to be making basically arbitrary decisions about what evidence can be seen and heard by the jury and what cannot. There are precedents to follow, but judges here have a lot of control over what the jury sees and hears. Are there more set guidelines in Canadian courts?
