Another 18 years behind Peruvian bars for Dutchman Joran van Der Sloot for drug smuggling

Peruvian prosecutors are demanding a prison sentence of 18 years and four months against Joran van der Sloot for drug smuggling, local media report on Friday. The Dutchman has been detained in the South American country for murder since 2010.

Peruvian media report that Van der Sloot is seen as the coordinator of drug smuggling to the prison in the southeast of Peru, where he is serving his prison sentence.

Van der Sloot, along with his girlfriend Eva Pacohuanaco and accomplices, is said to have smuggled nearly 300 grams of cocaine and 140 grams of marijuana into the prison in Juliaca.

Pacohuanaco brought Van der Sloot food in August, including nineteen red beets. The drugs turned out to be in those vegetables. Pacohuanaco says she was not aware of this, but prosecutors are also demanding 18 years in prison for her for drug trafficking.

The same sentence was demanded against three fellow prisoners of Van der Sloot. The prosecution demanded 14 years in prison for Pacohuanaco's brother for his role in the smuggling case.

Van der Sloot is serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramírez in 2010. He was convicted in 2012.

Yes, true and disgusting. Why are murderers anywhere permitted conjugal visits? Why?!

Apparently LE relocated his pathetic arse to very high & remote prison. Hopefully he’ll get the 18 years for drug charge & then extradited to USA for fraud & extortion of Natalie’s mom. Hopefully he’ll never see freedom again.

Side note, I wonder… if he’s imprisoned here in USA, can his “wife” & “daughter” get green cards or a path to residency? Curious. Hoping not. He deserves no support system ever imo.

I admire Natalie's father and hold much sympathy for him and Beth, too. However, I won't be paying 65 bucks to watch the NG Fox News special. Dave appears solemn and sounds broken.

My daughter played regional competitive tennis which meant were in Mountain Brook, AL often. Although I did not personally know them, I'm old enough to remember that Beth was in TN when this tragic event occurred. She contacted the TN Highway Patrol to inform them that she was flying down the highway and would appreciate Police escorts. They obliged her request. I'm weeping like a willow upon reflection of all that followed.

I hope they report on this evidence soon, as I can’t imagine what evidence would be “breathtaking” !

I'm starting to think Greta is about to launch a book.
 
One thing that sticks out in my mind from Nancy Grace's most recent arrival on the island of Aruba with Sheryl McCollum is that she said the island is so small that surely Natalee could have been found.

Aruba is 20 miles long from its northwestern to its southeastern end and 6 miles across at its widest point.

They were threatened with an arrest due to being accused of filming without permission. Aruban authorities don't want any attention brought to the island that may negatively influence tourism.

Natalee would be 35yo this year.

As much as I feel for Natalee and her family, and I can completely understand they want to keep her story in the air, I just wonder...about some outlets. What is the shocking twist, mentioned in the header of the Sun article, if I may ask.

And what is it with Greta van Susteren named upthread, completely ignorant, twittering incorrect info and suggesting all kinds of things? I might think a person with her reputation would do some serious investigation before blabbing along. And where is the KEY-evidence she is mentioning?

What am I missing? Why the hostility towards Greta Van Susteren? She has worked with and helped Beth Holloway since Natalee first went missing.

We (the Dutch people) are surely not in denial. It might feel that way but it's not true. As there is still no proof (as sad that this is, because it's obvious Joran is a psychopathic murderer and a pathetic lair IMO) Joran van der Sloot is not guilty (for now and in legal terminology) and still a suspect, in Natalee's case. That's why the used word -possible- is (politically) correct. Apart from an opinion piece, news should be objective and not taking a site IMO.

Aruba is an independent, sovereign, country, within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, since 1986, with it's own government and an own judiciary. Does all of this work flawless and like it should, I don't think so, but give me one country where it does and there are no miscarriages of justice? (Not to justify what happened in Natalee's case) When Natalee went missing the Dutch authorities sent 50 of its own marines and three Air Force F-16s with infrared sensors to aid the search of the shoreline, and $20,000 was raised to help fund the desperate search.

Who was "looking away"? Or did Van Susteren mean this in a totally different way?
