Aruba - Natalee Holloway, 18, Oranjestad, 30 May 2005 *AL extortion trial* *Guilty* #3

Original Order - June 2010

BIRMINGHAM—Federal prosecutors in Birmingham have filed a criminal complaint against JORAN VAN DER SLOOT, a citizen of the Netherlands, on wire fraud and extortion charges in connection with his soliciting money in May on promises he would reveal the location of Natalee Holloway’s remains in Aruba and circumstances of her death, U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and FBI Special Agent in Charge Patrick Maley announced today.

“We are committed to protecting citizens from unscrupulous individuals who attempt to financially exploit a person’s deepest fears and greatest loss,” Vance said.

An FBI plane left Peru this morning to bring to Joran van der Sloot to Alabama to face charges he extorted thousands from Natalee Holloway’s mother.

The 35-year-old van der Sloot has long been suspected in the disappearance and death of the Mountain Brook High School graduate visiting Aruba in 2005. However, van der Sloot has never been charged in her death.

IMHO In the immortal words of the Stones you can't always get what you want but sometimes you get what you need. Natalee's long suffering mother will not be getting the kind of day in court she has been living for but but she will be able to seek justice for this slim ball who in all likely hood did something horrific to her daughter Natalee and still refuses to offer anything up about what happened. I am sorry the young woman was murdered by van der Sloot but am relieved he is in prison for the crime.
In my fantasy world, he gets here for these charges and some how is able to be charged for Natalee's death.....I know it is a fantasy...but a good one.
A mother who has never given up on the loss of her child.
