Australia Australia - Hayley Dodd, 17, Badgingarra WA, 29 Jul 1999 *retrial Guilty, manslaughter*

Police are searching a property in Badgingarra, about 200 kilometres north of Perth, after a tip-off about the location of missing teenager Hayley Dodd's body.
The property was previously occupied by Francis Wark, who was sentenced to 18 years in jail last week for Hayley's manslaughter.
Today, specialist crime and forensic officers concentrated their search on an old water tank at the rear of the property, using a bobcat and scouring the surrounding land.
While Wark denied having any knowledge of what happened to Hayley, a cold case review in 2013 uncovered an earring the teen was wearing on a seat cover of a car Wark was driving at the time.
Police had also searched the Badgingarra property during the same 2013 review but found nothing at the time.

Police search property connected to Hayley Dodd's killer

Police are searching a remote property in Western Australia after they received a tip-off about the possible location of a slain teenager's missing body.

Convicted rapist Francis Wark once lived at the address, in Badgingarra, 200km north of Perth.

Police searched the property in 1999, after Ms Dodd disappeared, and again in 2013.

The property is near where Ms Dodd was last seen alive, walking along a road.

Police say there have been "no significant developments" and search activity will continue on Wednesday.

'No body, no parole'
Wark, 65, was made eligible for parole after 16 years.

But with new "no body, no parole" laws — introduced in WA at the instigation of Ms Dodd's mother — he faces the prospect of serving the entire sentence behind bars if he does not reveal the location of the teenager's remains.

Hi all, I am going to put this our there I, in no way want to be disrespectful or insensitive in any way, i just felt compelled to report this. I have psychic dreams very regularly and they are almost always only in relation to family or friends. I do not know much at all about the Hayley Dodd case.

however, on Saturday the 15th of October I had a very very vivid dream where Hayley Dodd came to m me. She kept saying her name over and over and I saw her face, her freckles stuck out.
It was so very vivid .. she was in my dream telling me the word "moora" or "Moore river" then she showed me grassy sand dunes and told me she was strangled then buried there.. then pointed out a pink t shirt and emphasised the top ribbed part of the collar. She then kept saying the name "Margaret" and I could see a woman sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked near these dunes, the driver's door open.

History
Francis John Wark who has been convicted of the Manslaughter of Hayley Dodd in 1999 and sentenced to an 18 year sentence with a minimum of 16 years.

He previously won an appeal on the basic of murder and a second jury convicted him on the manslaughter charge.

He has appealed on the manslaughter charge and sentence unsuccessfully.

"Judges dismiss appeal

Wark quickly lodged his second appeal and today in a unanimous decision, three Supreme Court judges upheld his conviction for killing Hayley.

Wark also appealed against the record jail term he received, but the three judges also dismissed that challenge.

Wark will be eligible for release after 16 years, but under "no body, no parole laws" — introduced in WA at the instigation of Hayley's mother, Margaret Dodd — he faces the prospect of serving the entire term if he does not reveal the location of the teenager's body.

With time already served, that would mean Wark will remain behind bars until 2037.

In upholding Wark's 18-year sentence, the Court of Appeal noted he might die in jail but ruled his offences, including his crimes in Queensland, were so serious the term was appropriate.

"Unfortunately, from the appellant's perspective, the extremely serious nature of his offending ... and the necessity for appropriate punishment, denunciation of his criminal conduct and the demands of general deterrence, significantly reduced the extent to which humanitarian considerations could be accommodated in the overall sentencing disposition," the court ruled.

Wark appeared in the Court of Appeal via video link from Acacia Prison.?

There is a place called Moora, about 31 miles SE of Badgingara, as the crow flies. And, from the aerial photograph one can see in "globe view" of the area, on google Earth, it appears that there is sandy soil in the area.
