“A ground search has been launched for missing 20-year-old woman Selena Collinson amid fresh claims from friends that her disappearance is 'very out of character for her.'

At 8am on Monday members of the SES, local police and volunteers from the community set out along the far north coast of NSW where her abandoned car was found.

The 20-year-old's best friend Tay Lucas posted on Facebook about the unusual nature of Miss Collinson's disappearance and asked anyone in the Byron Bay area to keep their 'eyes peeled.'

“If anyone has seen anything that might help us find her it would be greatly appreciated.'

Miss Collinson was last seen leaving a home on Orana Road, Ocean Shores, about 12.30pm on Saturday September 30.

She left the home in a white Mazda 3, with NSW registration DKU 24J.

Selena is described as Caucasian appearance, 168cm tall, thin build, with long blonde hair which is normally in a bun.
She has hazel coloured eyes, a mole on her right cheek, and an 'infinity' tattoo on the inside of her right ankle.

She was last seen wearing black Lorna Jane pants, black joggers and a white/grey jacket.

‘It is very out of character for her and the police have been contacted.’
