Daily mail says otherwise:

Not trying to be nitpicky here Possumheart, but the Daily Mail article led me to this Channel Nine article which says:

Police have spent hours speaking with 28-year-old Mr Tostee, who has reportedly been uncooperative.

I'm a little bit sceptical of the Daily Mail as their facts are often not 100% accurate in my experience. But hey, we don't want to get hung up on this. I guess we'll find out soon enough if he was or wasn't cooperative :seeya:

I hear you loud and clear Isisrising, Daily Mail is a tabloid, in the true sense.

Police have notified her family in Lower Hutt - a city just outside Wellington.

9NEWS understands they're devastated at the tragic news and struggling to comprehend what has happened.

Right now, they're not only ones searching for answers.

You know, it looks pretty bad for Tostee imo;

According to all the MSM reports we've cited so far: officers were called at about 2.30am after a passerby found her body and when they went up to Tostee's apartment, it was empty. He then "handed himself in", as the papers are putting it, at 11am the next day and has been apparently uncooperative in the police interview.

None of that looks very good.

Indeed Mr. Gable Tostee was known to the police...

NZ MSM:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/10367377/Kiwi-dies-after-Surfers-Paradise-balcony-fall

"The 28-year-old man who is the sole occupant of the apartment, Gable Tostee, was assisting police with inquiries on Friday afternoon. He was not formally arrested and no charges have been laid.
Tagpuno Wright was reportedly visiting Tostee after meeting him through an online dating app, believed to be Tinder, the Courier Mail reported."

"Tostee handed himself in to detectives yesterday and was questioned for over two hours at Surfers Paradise Police Station, according to the Courier Mail. He was released without charge a couple of hours later.
Australia's Nine News reported Tostee was known to police for a fraud he was previously involved in that netted him and two friends AU$30,000 (NZ$32,800). The trio were found guilty in 2004 of making hundreds of fake ID cards for underage teenagers attending end-of-exams party week known as Schoolies."

Another witness, Adam, who lives on the 17th floor said: 'By the sounds of things it's happened on my side of the building, right by my bedroom window.'

And another witness has come forward ... that is good. Living quarters are close in those apartment buildings. Many people probably heard the commotion. Some may even have heard what was being said and yelled.

Plus the Avalon's CCTV .. and any surrounding CCTV ... lots of CCTV at Surfers. Police are right onto this .. they'll have it all gathered up and be reviewing it now.

Hi Insp.Gadget!

Long time no see!! :seeya:

Good point re CCTV!!

I wonder if they have it in the Avalon lift?

I'm thinking of that lift footage of Simon Gittany (who was found guilty of throwing his fiance from their balcony). We all watched him 'prepare' himself for acting distraught when the lift doors opened.

People often forget about CCTV in lifts - they think they're alone in there.

The New Zealand Herald:
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11306568

"Witnesses described hearing a woman scream, and it is believed a neighbour called emergency services after seeing her fall.
Police arrived a short time later but Mr Tostee had left the scene,
the newspaper reported.
He handed himself in to detectives about 11am local time yesterday and was questioned for more than two hours at Surfers Paradise Police Station.
He was released without charge after being taken for forensic testing."

If it's ever perceived that I have a lot to say about the suspects and not much about the victims in these cases, it's because I have a daughter, just a few short years away from being an adult. And I imagine what it'd be like to be that mother who gets *that* phone call from the police...

.. and then I have to watch my girl go out into the world every day. It hurts too much, for me to focus on the victim.

But I do anyway. My thoughts are with Warriena and her loved ones.

I wonder if there is any connection? Or perhaps things like 'gas hazards' and the like are relatively common in these high rise buildings. (I once worked in a building where firefighters appeared on about a weekly basis responding to what ended up being false alarms).

Fifteen minutes after the incident, firefighters were called to the same block of flats to investigate a 'gas hazard'

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman says its crews carried out atmospheric testing.

'But that matter is now in the hands of police,' she said.

SHE came to the Gold Coast to watch two friends make a lifelong promise of love.

Ms Wright, a passionate animal rights advocate and the daughter of a Christian church deacon, was on the Gold Coast for a wedding, travelling from her home in New Zealand’s Lower Hutt region for a fortnight-long adventure with her Australian friends.

She was only days away from boarding a plane home to her family when she organised to meet Mr Tostee through dating app Tinder

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have any information which could assist the investigation to contact Gold Coast police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
