AZ - BRYAN PATRICK MILLER - Victims: Angela Brosso & Melanie Bernas, Serial Killer 1992-1993 *Guilty, sentenced to death*

"Now the question is what will Phoenix PD do next!?"

Find the others he must have murdered in Phoenix or elsewhere.

Wow, I love when a case is solved seemingly(to the public) out of left field like this. Gives hopes that many cold cases can be solved. The pic of him with the pheonix pd makes me sick, this creep thought he had literally gotten away with murder! I am so relieved for the families of the victims, and I hope his daughter can find a normal future some how. I wonder when he got married exactly? What happened to his wife as I see no mention of her and find it a bit odd, and perhaps it's sexist or old fashioned of me to think this way, that his daughter lived with him instead of her mother.

Facebook snooping now, some of the stuff he posted, while odd in its own right seems downright sick now.

Can we discuss things from his fb? Stuff we see in pics? I forget how this works for some reason!

Apparently the living situation with the mother wasn't the most ideal.

According to court records filed in 2008, Miller had petitioned for full custody of his daughter after she suffered from health problems from time with her mother, who Miller claimed was homeless and unemployed.

Gosh, I truly feel awful for her...saw some stuff on fb but I literally am so tired I cannot remember fb rules right now.

There's also this (took me a while to find it, and I didn't want to post it until I re-found the link). This was while he lived in Everett, WA.

In 2002, Miller was put on trial for stabbing a woman several times in the shop of Canopy West. Miller said she had tried to rob him, and he was acquitted.

“The day he got out of jail, he showed up here, grabbed a couple things and said, ‘Hey, see you guys later, it’s nice working with you, I’m going to Arizona,” Brosius said. “That was the last I’d hear of him.”

Brosius said he testified at Miller’s trial in Washington and never quite made up his mind about what had happened regarding that stabbing.

Yes great job detectives! Creepy Face Book considering the back story. Thank goodness for the advances in DNA technology! It's getting a lot harder to get away with murder.

I concur. Two victims with a pattern then no bodies for twenty years? I. Don't. Think. So.

I don't believe it myself, either. I personally think there may be more somewhere, but hey, BTK went silent for 25 years, so you never know.

Yes, you can link to his FB. You can discuss HIS posts, but nothing about other people, i.e., family and friends.

ETA: No copy and paste.

Thanks.

Angela grew up in Camp Hill, Pa., outside Harrisburg. Linda told me she was shy as a little girl.

''And she always wore dresses as a girl,'' Linda said. ''Angie wasn't the tomboy type. She had long, blond hair that I always put into French braids and pigtails and buns.''

When she got older Angela thought of becoming a veterinarian.

''She loved animals,'' Linda said. ''After Rusty, there were many other guinea pigs. And rabbits. In high school, Angie spent practically all the money she earned at Kentucky Fried Chicken, which wasn't much money, trying to save a sick bunny. She was heartbroken when it died.''

Linda Brosso Strock called to wish her daughter a happy birthday 20 years ago this week.

But the police answered the phone.

Her 22-year-old daughter, Angela Brosso, had failed to return from a bike ride. Police were just beginning to search for her that Monday morning in November when someone discovered the headless body of a woman near 25th Avenue and Cactus Road. Police would confirm it was Brosso by the end of the week. Her head was found in the Arizona Canal 11 days later.

Brosso’s murderer went on to kill again.

The next victim was 17-year-old Melanie Bernas, an Arcadia High School student who was also on a bike ride near the Arizona Canal when she was murdered in September 1993. Bernas’ corpse was discovered floating in the Arizona Canal near where the canal goes under the Black Canyon Freeway, about a half-mile north of Dunlap Avenue.

A turquoise bodysuit was found nearby.

He would have been in the Northwest when the David Grubbs murder occurred in Ashland Oregon. The victim was killed and nearly decapitated on a bike path. He was a young male, 23 years old, so that does not match his M.O. But still, that is interesting, that the murder was on a bike path. Both Ashland Oregon, and Everett Washington are on the I5 Highway. It would have been easy for him to go on kill trips up and down the I5 and drive home to Everett WA.

Perhaps David Grubbs startled him as he lay in wait for a female victim.

Coincidentally, a POI was just named in the Grubbs case. (Doesn't sound like a solid lead, IMVHO.)

On the other hand, from what I've read -- which isn't much -- Grubbs was walking along the bike path. With Miller, I think the bikes were important. It sounds like he might have kept them as trophies. The two victims' bikes were never found.

Investigators believe... that the killer had specialized training in the military and that he collected "trophies" from the victims. Neither Brosso's purple, 21-speed Diamondback mountain bike nor Bernas' green SPC Hardrock Sport mountain bike had been found.

LE removed a rusty bike from the Miller property shed. No word yet on whether it belonged to one of the victims. Also, a previous post here says that on his FB page, Miller spoke of having many bicycles.

ETA: Says he used to "ride his bike everywhere".

I live in Phoenix. I remember when this awful crime(s) happened. I use to Rollerblade along that canal in the same area all the time. People knew he must of lived close by because he took Angela somewhere and killed and dismembered her.. The canal area was not the crime scene, she was brought back a short time later and dumped. So where ever he was residing in 1992/3 is probably where the murder took place.. Not sure if it's where he lives now.. Doubt it although it's not far from canal area.

Creepiest Facebook post IMO a picture saying "I am more than what you see" and pictures from a gothic style wedding where he is "chopping" someone in the back with an axe. Also, in one picture that appears to be in his house, a sign on a door saying "mental ward".

I am so anxious for codis results to come back. Now it's a given that not every one into the goth/steampunk scene is a murderer, it's disturbing to me that he embraced the twisted so much! Also the hoarding, if he has only been living there since November, how has he accumulated so much stuff? Or was he living with someone?

He moved back to Phoenix to live in the home after the owner, a relative, passed away. So, the relative probably was the hoarder, although I wonder if he lived there before moving to Washington. Or when he went back to Phoenix for visits. From FB, it looks like he attended an event in Arizona in 2010. And he talks about camping! The thought of this guy camping is very disturbing to me.
