Brandon Scott Lavergne -- Post Conviction

This is what Mickey's mom had to say about the issue....

"Since people keep asking me what I think about the recent news:
I think a 230 pound man in a custom, extended-cab pickup truck ran down a 100 pound girl on a bicycle. I think he picked her because she was tiny; he thought she would be easy to control while alive and easy to dispose of when dead.
He was wrong on one of these counts; Mickey knew it was a fight to the death, and she fought for her life until Brandon Scott Lavergne shot her through the head. After stabbing her a number of times. Her death certificate says "Primary cause of death: gun shot wound to the head". "Secondary cause of death: multiple stab wounds."
Self-defense? Torture? Pressure? Incompentence?
Poor, poor little man. Life is tough.
Mickey is the only part of this that has ever been important to us. She always will be important to us. Always."

Ugh I love how he has set up the story to he accidentally hit her, asked her if she's alright, made it should like she got in the truck of her own free will, and he only killed her out of self defense. Nothing he did was wrong except for covering it up. What about those phone calls to escort services before you even saw Mickey?? And the U turn in the road you did after you saw her?? Right, you're a convicted sex offender and rapist you weren't planning anything bad right?? Give me a break.

He had no emotion or remorse in leading them to the body.

It didn't sound like he had a problem talking attorney or no attorney. I honestly can't believe that he thinks he even has a glimpse of a chance of getting his case dismissed. I remember several of you commenting on how he never really confessed to killing Lisa he just danced around it. Now he comes up with "maybe she wasn't even killed". Ok whatever! Why can't he just do his time. If he doesn't want to be protected and be with the prison public I say let him go! No radio? Just pipe a recording of precious Mickey's voice over and over. No TV? Play a video of him at his plea deal appearance over and over.

Sickening!

Thank you, Ocean...I could listen forever and a day with what Mrs. Nancy has to say!

Is it my imagination or did Lavergne's confession and the recent audio change a little when he described the events of how he hit Mickey's bike and got her into his vehicle? And, no, I can't give specifics b/c to do so I'd have to listen all over again, and that's plain disgusting. Just making an observation, but if I had struck someone on a bike and eventually murdered him, the sequence of events would forever be imprinted on my brain.
And every time I would recount that night, my story would pretty much be word for word. Am I just weird or does that happen to anyone else when they've suffered a traumatic event?

I wonder how he thinks anyone will believe that he "accidentally" hit her when it was shown that he changed lanes to follow her. Thus he knew she was there and was focused on her so there is no way he accidentally hit her as if he didn't see her.

He said that maybe Lisa wasn't even killed?

Yeah, right...Lisa put that plastic bag over her head herself accidentally & then wandered to the backyard of the residence of one of BSL's enemies, crawled under some wooden boards, and accidentally died....give me a break.

He murdered Mickey and Lisa. He got away with Lisa's death for far too long.

And who knows if there are others...

I believe 100% that he killed Lisa Pate...
However, I never believed his story of how he did it.

He was asleep, apparently he needs a CPAP machine to sleep because of sleep apnea, and during this time, Lisa tried grabbing his keys, and he awoke and began beating her.

It didn't seem plausible to me.

Does anyone know if BSL is even still being investigated into Ali Lowitzers abduction?

Since it looks like BSL likes to make deals make him a deal.

Put him on a bike late at night, the night after he had attended a party because his sister had come back to town for his younger brother's graduation, and make him go down a dark road and have a truck hit him like he hit MS, but in the truck have a woman like Laila Ali or some one who can defend herself and see how he likes that match.
Maybe after that he would think that Bubba behind(pun intended) bars would be a better fit(again pun intended) for him.

Definitely interested to know if he is being pursued in Ali's case or any other cases

I have been wondering the same. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for Ali's family knowing he is a person of interest but not having awsners still after so long.

He mentioned in his appeal that the truck with the license plate that tied him to that case was purchased after Ali's disappearance.

That doesn't clear him, but makes it somewhat less likely that he did it. IMO

Gee, I thought he decided to confess because he felt some remorse for Mickey's family...not because he was coerced into a confession. I don't believe he ever felt any remorse but was trying to save himself from the death penalty. Does he really think anyone would believe anything he says?

He has lots of time on his hands and little else to do but try and stir up stuff. he has no chance of winning this but it does waste time and may be intended to waste taxpayers money and to cause further pain to Mickey's family.

I imagine that BSL is pretty irate at this point because his life is endless hours in his cell with little variety or entertainment. He can't even amuse himself with the satisfaction of raping Mickey. I figure that he is really irritated by the face that he wanted sex so bad that night and had been turned down by so many escort services that he decided to find a victim and make sure she didn't tell him no.

Well he ran into Mickey and she not only denied him the satisfaction of raping her but she badly injured him, bled all over his truck, thus destroying it and left her mark on him which helped to identify him and put him away for life.

So I imagine he is pretty bitter at this point and lashing out anyway that he can. It's just gotta be eating away at him that he, who likes to beat up and abuse women, was taken down by a sweet little girl like Mickey.

I agree if he owned the truck after she dissapeared then it is leas likely him. But He could be lying about that. I had a hard time reading his appeal because of his sloppy handwriting. I would think the PI would have checked into the dates he owned the truck before stating to the media that his truck could be a possible match to the one spotted with Ali. If he didnt I think that's pretty irresponsible, IMO. If LE don't think he is a person of interest hopefully they will state that sometime soon.

Prosecutors Confident Case Against Lavergne 'Solid'

01/08/2013 06:20 PM by Erin Steuber

Convicted killer Brandon Scott Lavergne is trying to have his convictions for the murders of Mickey Shunick, and Lisa Pate, thrown out.
It's called a Post-Conviction Relief motion, and prosecutors say it's not uncommon for those serving life sentences, like Lavergne, to make these request, but his was thrown out on a technicality.

"We anticipated that. In any plea agreement, that person will come in and say 'I didn't know what I was doing, I was operating under a diminished capacity,'"
said Landry. "That's one of the reasons the prosecution team insisted, prior to taking the plea, he submit to a psychological evaluation."
Still, Lavergne has more than a year left to re-file his petition. Prosecutors say their case is solid and are confident the court will continue to deny Lavergne's request.

Lavergne remains at Angola State Prison serving two consecutive life sentences.

I couldn't believe this! Did I read this right? He's complaining about torture in jail, aka solitary confinement?

Since he hates solitary so much, PLEASE put him in general population.

Since BSL likes to write so much. I wonder what was written in that letter that was given to Mr. Shunick that morning? Sure hope he kept it. BSL might of said something in there that will go against him, since he likes to run his mouth.
