Strange that now he doesn't want to speak in front of the cameras. I wonder what has changed his mind.
Maybe JMK has found that anything he says, can easily be misinterpreted, or speculated on, by the media, that's swarming like bees around him.

On the plane, the 41-year-old teacher sat in a business class window seat next to Mark Spray, an investigator with the Boulder District Attorney's office. He was not handcuffed. A U.S. Embassy official and an agent with "Homeland Security" emblazoned on his T-shirt were also part of the escort party.

Before takeoff, Karr took a glass of champagne from a cabin attendant and clinked glasses with Spray, who had orange juice.

Dinner was served on a starched white tablecloth. Karr started with a pate, then had a green salad with walnut dressing. The main course was fried king prawn with steamed rice and broccoli. Karr drank a beer, crushing the can with his hands when it was empty, then moved on to a glass of French chardonnay with his main course.

Karr was relaxed, smiling and chatting nonstop with the U.S. officials next to him - until television news crews on the flight turned their cameras on. Then he stopped smiling, clutched the armrests of his seat and stared at his lap.

Hope he enjoyed his flight, his large seat, the champagne...all at OUR expense...as taxpayers.

But Buzz don't you think he'd know this would happened?
Many a statements can be taken differently, since ppl don't think the same way or learn the same way...
He's a teacher:)bang: ) that's part of basic 101...

As much as JMK thought he knew about the media, or that any of us think we know about the media, this instance of media swarming, because of these circumstances, would be something we could have never imagined. I saw the scene with the reporters in the Bangkok Airport, and it looked almost as if things had run amuck. LAX is next--hoping the airport can manage to shuffle him onto the plane for Boulder without the hoard of media.

Thanks Buzz,

I heard on TV this morning they are looking at Karr for the death of another little 6 year old girl in California. Have you seen anything come out about her? An wondering who she is and if she would have a thread already here.

Happy Sunday to you Buzz, Scandi

So he was smiling when the cameras were off him but stone-faced otherwise--seems to be a pretty good actor--Karr's taking everybody for a ride

The media does that with all high profile cases thou, even the wacky ones.:waitasec:
Remember the run-a-way bride....that's wacky...:slap:

We know he's not playing with a full deck, but he has to read newspapers, watch the news and knows this happens........my opinion....

Yes Scandi, that has been all over the news here, Amber Swartz. It's just a hope; I think they grab at every straw, hoping it will solve the case.

It is sickening to us and probably to LE as well. It's a long 15 hour plus flight. It may be possible that they are buttering him up and being very friendly hoping that he will feel relaxed enough to talk.

Just a thought.

he is a bad teacher..remember..
what angers me more than him clinking his glass is the official allowing it..I would not have let him clink my glass in victory (oh there's that word again)..

That's an excellent thought, Sherlockmom....

JMK is drinking beer and champagne and by now is drunk as a skunk. If he does talk about JonBenet during this flight than his lawyer could have his statements taken on the plane thrown out of court.

I think he knows once he lands alcohol will be a thing of the past for him so he is getting in his slops now....but you're right...there's no way they should be letting him drink like this knowing he'll be questioned upon arrival in L.A...

Some of you have stated that you think Karr is just trying to get his 15 minutes of fame, and that may indeed be the case--I guess we will all find out soon enough. I just don't understand WHY anyone would want to garner fame in this way. I mean, if he is innocent, WHY would he want to be seen as such a creepy, evil freak? There is really nobody worse than those that cause harm, and KILL, innocent children. Even amongst criminals in prison, pedophiles are looked at with disgust and contempt. This guy has spent a better portion of his adult life working with kids & claiming he cares for kids (his teaching resumes), so it boggles my mind why, if innocent, he would go from one extreme to the next.

Usually, people looking for attention do it in the hopes that they will be admired & looked up to---not to be looked at as a disgusting, evil, sickening lowlife.

I just don't get it.

You don't get it because you are sane and normal. This guy is anything but. Remember negative attention is still attention.
I'm glad I don't get it either.

He isn't in custody and can not be put under arrest until they hit US air space. I read he is accompanied by a Homeland Security official and a Boulder lawman and no FBI. So he can drink what he wants, and was also served a dinner with a salad with walnut dressing and a prawn dish. Se I don't think he could get drunk.

But I see what you are saying about the possibility of problems if he talks too much on the plane. So I'm wondering if the stewardess was given free reign to get him a' drinking? He had champagne, beer and I think one other drink. That alone sounds like a lot for flying, in a short time span, as we all know alcohol always affects someone more when up in the air.

Scandi

ETA: And it is a 16 hour flight. Wonder if he'll want to keep on a drinking all the way to California? I would think the flight crew would cut him off like anyone else. He has to be treated like any other passenger. Does anyone know about US air space?

He also still has 8 1/2 - 9 hours to go before he lands in L.A...unless he keeps drinking he'll
be sober by the time he lands and that is when it will matter as to what physical state he is in.
