OK, we have a verified phone call "around" 10AM that is the last independently verified last known contact with Bob. My personal opinion is that it is closer to 9 than 10, but that is jmvho based on nothing but gut. Then we have the arrival of CL on the other end of the timeline as it relates to SIL.

I guess we speculate about whether or not SIL (if he is a suspect as was referenced by someone posting to JuM on ROTW shortly after Bob went missing) is the kind of guy who could finesse keeping Bob around and in the house while he (Bob) was incapacitated in some way. Or is it likely that SIL, or someone...maybe even and someone...moved quickly to transport him elsewhere.

If Bob was removed from his home shortly after being incapacitated, doesn't it seem likely that he was transported some place close by? I know we went through traffic flow a few times in that area-if it were me and I wasn't a professional hit man, it seems likely that I would want to stop and dump him in the first relatively private place I came to. Out of sheer panic.

We know SIL, JeM, was driving a Honda Ridgeline. The Honda Ridgeline has a big storage compartment.

I often think about - if Bob had not (unknown to everyone) arranged for his housekeeper to call that Monday, when would he have been reported missing?

I think Wednesday, the day Mrs Harrod returned. If it hadn't been for the housekeeper turning up, and knowing son in law knew Bob had disappearedl, I don't think Bob's disappearance would have been reported for days.

So Mrs Harrod would have turned up, and she would have had to report that Bob was missing, and though she was in the house now, she could not explain how or when Bob vanished. That would have looked so suspicious.

Also, why did Mrs Harrod have to get a taxi from the airport? We know Bob's daughters Julie Michaels and son in law had vehicles, and daughter Roberta Brady. And that they were at the house Wed. But they couldn't pick Mrs Harrod up from the airport?

ETA Correction: Daughter Julie Michaels and Paula Borcher (Bob passed her a new car) we know had vehicles. Roberta Brady had one too, I'm sure. But there's no record of that.

I think that Mrs Harrod would have raised the alarm before Wed, but I agree it seems likely the plan was to make sure there was a lot of distance between the folks who were in the house on Monday and the crime. I agree that however this plan came about, Mrs Harrod was going to be the one who had to make the call to LE.

    How cruel.

I also believe that it was imperative to prevent Bob from executing his to do list, and I truly believe that the list represented what he intended to do on Monday.

I just want to bounce back for a minute to possible locations. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether or not the person(s) who disposed of Bob might have headed towards the nearest hospital?

If we assume it was a confrontation that got out of hand and Bob was injured, maybe someone wanted to bring him to the hospital and headed in that direction?

It would be nice to think so, but I'm afraid I don't. Helping a badly injured person from the house to a vehicle to get to hospital would have happened in a rush with little time to think. Surely that would have left a trail of evidence that even the best clean-up couldn't conceal?

I think it's more likely Bob Harrod was deceased when he left the house and his body was carefully wrapped and concealed, so as not to leave evidence.

I think the possibility exists (albeit slight) that Mr. Harrod may have been injured, or suffered a medical consequence as a result of, say, an altercation or illness of some sort; and an initial route of travel may have been in the direction of a hospital or other care facility, which then changed upon further thought or realization of the situation at hand. However, I would think that would imply transit out the front entrance/exit of the residence- and I personally believe Bob was removed and/or left the residence via the sliding door. But that too, is only based on gut instinct.

Well, gut instinct, and the locking mechanism on the doors....and the key situation...

believe09- if Mr. Harrod was injured or ill, and left the residence via the sliding door (perhaps for the sake of ease- while not a heavy man, he is quite tall- or perhaps to avoid a step?) how do you think he (or someone assisting him) would have accessed a vehicle in the drive or on the road? The path around the right hand side of the residence?

    Hmmm...another thought:
Suppose Mr. Harrod was alone for a period of time outdoors (it only takes a moment for someone to fall ill or become injured) and was then come upon or found by someone. Who decided to either aid him- or decided to take advantage of the situation for nefarious purposes? Might something have occured in the bathroom upstairs, such as a fall- and Mr. Harrod then transited outdoors under his own power, alone, where he fell outdoors or became ill?
Have we had any discussion of the back yard (or front for that matter) being disturbed in any fashion?

Oh and one more random question- can't recall if it's been discussed. Do any of the members of the family who attended the family meeting, smoke? If so, whom?

Also, believe09- for some reason your post regarding specialists who employ forensics in the recovery of remains made me think of John McIlwaine, of the ICVLR. He has recently passed away, and of course the situation and conditions of Mr. Harrod are quite different than those he was working under- but what a skilled man at using the techniques of forensic archaeology to locate the missing.

I wonder if we could take some tips from their recovery efforts, and utilize them in our search?

One last random thought of the day- it's a funny thing, I can't get it out of my head because I am currently entrenched in another MP case where the LKA of the MP is a location known as a place to play a game called Magic: The Gathering. I knew nothing about this game until this case. Anyway, a play of cards using a 'possibility storm' card has come up....and anyway- it's of no relevence to Mr. Harrod, except I was wondering about online (and offline, in person) gaming.

Have we ever discussed the gambling habits of anyone who may have been intimately involved with Mr. Harrod, or had intimate knowledge of Mr. Harrod's finances? I know Mr. Harrod enjoyed visiting a couple of the casinos in the region, and early on we discussed the possibility of some routes of travel associated with those interests. But how about other folks? And how about other types of games, such as those played online?

I think that removing an injured Bob via the slider makes a great deal of sense because even if the altercation was impulsive, it is clear that the person/people involved would not want to draw attention to Bob by bringing him out the front door. I assume there is furniture out there. Perhaps an easy place to have him rest while you try and figure out what to do from there.

As for the clean up, the gap was hours long before CL showed up. And then there were the number of people who were in and out of the house in the days prior to Mrs Harrod arriving.

Gambling. And excellent thought! I bet PPD knows. It is very hard not to project some of the shell game-like money shifting GS was doing as gambling I have to say. Readers, refresh yourselves with GS deposition and the refinance game he was playing and the amount of money that he had no clue where he put. Tens of thousands of dollars of money missing and living mortgage free from the day Bob was killed to the day he turned the house back to his aunts.

OK, Placentia Hospital is 1.9 miles from Bob's house. Let's say an injured Bob was being transported in that direction...if the plan was altered before he was brought there, it is a straight shot up Rose DR to 142 to Carbon Canyon Road. We have talked about Chino Hills a few times I know. I just thought I would throw this possible direction out here.

I just don't think Bob's disappearance was a spur of the moment thing, with an aborted trip to get help for an injured Bob. I just don't.

I think a person/people had tried really hard to get his money, before he re-united with Fontelle. Once he married her, that was his death warrant. He might have spent his money on her - even worse, written her into his will. When last minute attempts to get Bob declared incompetant, or get the marriage annulled failed, Bob had to go. I think.

Z, I tend to agree with you on this one. (But then, I've been wrong before.) Just want to see justice for Bob and for Fontelle. Both have been treated SO badly.

I agree with you that Bob would not have been reported as missing until Mrs. Harrod arrived on Wednesday, however without the daughters letting her in, she would not have been able to enter the home. Remember SIL locked it up and AH had to get a key from a neighbor for the well being check. Which still leaves me to wonder how JuM got into the home on Tuesday.

Is it possible Mr Harrod got confused and wandered off? Are there places close by where he could have fallen and would not be found? It does seem likely that someone did not want a new wife getting money, but I hate to think that.

    colette,
We ALL hate to think that, but circumstances push us in that direction. It seems Bob was unable to walk very far, usually just on his block. There would be no place there he could have fallen without being noticed rather quickly.

It's awful to have to consider $$$ being so very important to anyone as to commit murder, but unfortunately it does happen and this family has made clear that money is VERY important to them.
