The skeletal remains of a little girl were found at Bombay Beach in 1994, and she supposedly died 50 years prior.

I wish there were more details of the discovery.

I wonder if her remains were found near the waterline (or what was the waterline). If it was, she could have been a visitor who drowned in an accident when the Salton Sea was a tourist trap in the 1940's-1960's.

The Salton Sea and Bombay Beach have quite an interesting history. The area went through a massive decline in the 1970's and 1980's after the ecosystem of the lake was destroyed; sat in ruins until modern day where it is having a sort of artistic revival.
