*Trial set to begin for both (@ 9am PT) – CA – Diego Villa Torralba (newborn-12 hours old) (July 19, 2019, Oxnard; strangled after birth) - *Andrea Torralba Comacho (20/now 23) ”mom” arrested (7/19/19), charged (7/23/19) & arraigned (9/30/19) & re-arraigned (10/7/21) with murder & assault on a child by means of force resulting in death. Plead not guilty. Was $1M bond, changed (9/30/19) to $5M.
*Diego Villa Torralba aka David Luna Villa (21/now 23) “father” arrested (7/19/19), charged (7/23/19) & arraigned (9/30/19) & re-arraigned (10/7/21) with murder & assault on a child by means of force resulting in death. Plead not guilty. $5M bond.
Trial was set to begin on 1/20/22 continued to 3/10/22.

1/20/22 Update: Jury trial heard. Present: Judge Gilbert A. Romero, Judicial assistant L. Espinoza, the defendant (Torralba) is not present in court. Conflict defense attorney Steinfield for W. Wiksell is present. Attorney appearing for the defendant with 977 PC authority. Public Defender Donna Forry is present (Comacho) & is standing in for Melanie Miles. Deputy DA Courtney Lewis present. Defense request for trial continuance-granted. Trial continued to 3/10/22 @ 9am. Last date for trial is 5/9/22. Defendant is remanded to custody of the Sheriff's office. Bail remains as previously set in the amount of $5M for both.
