Riverside detectives seek new leads in 2000 disappearance, presumed slaying of woman – Press Enterprise

RIVERSIDE — Hoping for fresh leads in a nearly two-decade-old cold case, Riverside police Thursday renewed their call for public help in solving the presumed slaying of a 40-year-old woman.

Elizabeth Doris Johnson went missing on April 14, 2000, “under suspicious circumstances,” according to the Riverside Police Department.

Detectives with the Riverside Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit suspect she was killed, but her body was never found and leads dried up.

Detectives Mike Medici and Jim Brandt are re-investigating the case.

“We believe there are people out there who knew Elizabeth at the time of her disappearance and know what happened to her,” Medici said. “We are hoping that after all these years, someone will now be willing to do the right thing for Elizabeth’s family and provide us with the information that could help us solve the case.”

Anyone with information can call the department’s tip line at (951) 353-7261, or send an email to rpdtipsriversideca.gov. Information may also be called in directly to Medici at (951) 353-7104 or Brandt at (951) 353-7137.

    Tipsters may remain anonymous.
