I didn't realize that posing for photos made someone look like a murderer.
I understand they are a bit risque but have you seen some of the trash on myspace?! Seriously-those are actually somewhat tasteful photos compared to some of the crap I have seen just with browsing my friends friends lists! You wouldn't catch me EVER posing for pics like that-much less posting them on the internet-but I don't think it's cause for my hinky meter to go off. JMO

I went and tried finding comments on the net from people that may have known the mom to get a better understanding of what kind of mom she is. Here are some I found. Not sure how legit they are, but will see as time tells and I also noticed many believe the mom is guilty. I am not sure at this point, if I believe mom is guilty. But I also think the myspace photos are model like photos and appropriate.

I know the grandmother of the baby and this story is in no way fishy. There are a lot of details that have not been revealed yet and are under investigation, but it may have to do with the nation wide gang initiations taking place this week. This family has had an unspeakable thing happen to them and our justice system should have zero tolerance for what gangs are doing to this country and to people's lives. Be kind because this family is suffering greatly, especially the mother.

Has anyone else read this story on other news websites? They all report something different. I work at the place the mother use to work and alot of people said she is pretty messed up in the head. Regardless of that there is still a beautiful little girl missing. WTF?

I think it's very possible for mom to have hurt herself. There was recently a case where a woman jumped off a bridge seriously hurting herself. She was in the hospital for over a week. She claimed that two men confronted her and her husband while fishing and they kidnapped her husband. Well her husband was never at the bridge with her. She had killed him at least a week before.

There was also a case in Utah where the husband was working in his garage. When he went into his house he found his wife and kids all slaughtered. Of course he was suspect number one for a long time. It was finally determined that his wife stabbed all the kids then stabbed herself.

There is a Stacey in the comments. Is that mom?

Yes, several news articles spelled the mom's name as Stacy. On the myspace, I believe it was spelled Stacey. In the first news reports they did not release the mom's first name.

One of the many mistakes made by the press. Her name is actually spelled Stacey. In searching for her myspace page I didn't come up with any matches under Stacy, so I spelled it the way I thought it would normally be spelled, and low and behold, I was right.

I wonder if the media is reporting her age wrongly, as well? Her myspace says 24 and that she graduated in 2003. That would put her at 24 if that is correct.

Yes in the news articles it says 20, however her myspace says 24, and the local news reported her as 24 also. It is her, there are pics of Emma on her myspace. The Press never does report the correct info at first. That's what WebSleuth's is for. LoL:crazy:

Missing Toddler Case Is Now Homicide Investigation

A body was found Thursday that is apparently that of an 18-month-old girl whose mother said had gone missing from a Lancaster park, and investigators were questioning the woman.

As of 9:45 p.m. Thursday Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies said the dead girl's mother was inside the Palmdale Sheriff's Station and still being questioned by homicide detectives.

Emma Leigh Barker was reported missing about 11 p.m. Wednesday by her mother, Stacey Barker, 20, who told officers that she was with her daughter at Lancaster City Park Wednesday afternoon and while bending over to put her daughter in a car seat was struck in the back of the head.

She said she reawakened six hours later at a park-and-ride lot nine miles away in Palmdale where authorities found her, "partially clad" and with a "head injury," sheriff's Lt. Pat Nelson said at a Thursday afternoon news conference.

Shortly after the mother reported her daughter missing, investigators from the sheriff's Palmdale Station found inconsistencies in her story.

About 11 a.m., investigators discovered the body of a female toddler laying in tall grass on the 13000 block of El Dorado Avenue, in Sylmar, near the Roxford Street off-ramp of the Golden State (5) Freeway, Nelson said.

The investigators could not confirm that the remains were those of the missing girl, but Nelson said they were "fairly confident" they were those of Emma.

Thursday night a large group of media had gathered outside the family home in the 43900 block of West Vintage Street, Lancaster.

One of their friends has a sympathy quote for Emma and Nick. I thought maybe Nick was Emma's dad, but it says he wants kids...Someday. Stacey's brother maybe? His profile pic is of Emma.

Yes, Nick is her #1 friend on Myspace, so I am guessing brother.

From your link...LE is not actively looking for another suspect. If she's responsible for this...her friends are going to be devistated. They are all sympathetic towards her.

I can only imagine how hard this must be for her family and friends. I am sure they not only loved Stacey, but Emma as well. It's scary to think you never really know someone or what they are capable of. I am leaning towards the mother's guilt at this point.

Per my above link:

Sources familiar with the investigation said the mother changed her story by Thursday and was insisting that Emma's death was an accident.

Maybe it was an accident, maybe she left her in the car and she died?? It has been pretty hot here the last couple of days?? Grasping at straws here, with the little info we have.

Baby dies, mom panics and makes up a story. I can see that. I wonder if the autopsy results will be released soon?
