CA - Journalist Michael Hastings, tragic car accident or...?, Los Angeles, June 2013

Thank you for posting this. After watching it I think someone did remotely cause the car to accelerate. How would you even determine if that happened since there's probably nothing left of the car to investigate?

I think he did find out something, and I can't help but wonder what it was. It was either a malfunction with the vehicle which could be a coincidence?? hmmm Or it was intentional, by someone else. I wonder if even just the family look for more video of his car, that day and previous days.

The above reuters link includes a link about his email and mentioning FBI wanting to look into some associates, and that he was going "off the grid" because of that story. There seems to have been some speculation on what it was about, but no one knows.

Whatever he found out and about whom, I don't know. Doubt we will ever know, b/c I cannot imagine the FBI ever letting anything that is to be kept quiet or under seal become public. They just don't work that way. The people trying to get the info may eventually get a some papers with black sharpie lines all over them, maybe they will get nothing.

One accident involving a Mercedes that my relative told me about was a drunk driver who hit a light pole at about 100mph.

He escaped with minor injuries, IIRC, the car was totalled, and the engine did not fly away from the scene or leave the vehicle. ETA, just texted the relative for clarification. His words were "vehicle was intact" after the accident and he also confirmed the engine did not separate from the car.

Did Mr. Hasting's car hit the tree head on or slide into the tree sideways at high speed?

if memory serves, he hit the tree head on. i believe the transmission was found some 50 yards down the block.

hinky, imo.

"Journalist Michael Hastings had traces of meth and pot in his system at the time of his fatal car crash"

"Relatives were on their way to Los Angeles to have an intervention for Hastings at the time of his death"

"He had been sober for 14 years and started using the month before he died"

"Coroner ruled the drugs were not the cause of the crash"

Well this is certainly... an interesting development. How odd that we hadn't heard of the "drug use" until now. :waitasec: :dunno:

They only found trace amounts. Not enough to cause an impairment that would lead to a car crush.

The Los Angeles Times has quite a good article here:

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-michael-hastings-ptsd-20130820,0,2226009.story

Snip:

"Journalist Michael Hastings, who was killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Los Angeles in June, may have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder as the result of his work as a war journalist, according to a coroner's report released Tuesday."

"Although there has been speculation and conspiracy theories about the cause of Hastings' crash, the autopsy report suggested that high speeds were to blame. ..."

"Although drugs were found in his system, they weren't considered a factor."

Much, much more...

Good article!!!

When I stop the video there seems to be white light coming from the rear of the car as well as the front (headlights), here are a couple as the car goes down the road (attached). I thought it might be that it was an optical illusion since the car is going so fast but you can still see it when the car first comes into view.

Who Killed Michael Hastings?

http://nymag.com/news/features/michael-hastings-2013-11/

The Internet, by and large, was certain that it wasn’t. The crash had occurred on a dead-straight section of road. Mercedes cars “don’t explode.” The engine block was found more than 30 yards away from the car, a distance explicable to chat-room denizens only by some sort of “car bomb.” A clip uploaded to YouTube—shot by a videographer who happened to be parked on Highland with a dashboard-mounted camera running, and apparently showing Hastings’s car barreling past right before the crash—was deemed suspicious.
