ADMIN NOTE

The website Find Kiely has been APPROVED upon review.
#FindKiely | Kiely Rodni | Truckee CA

Disparaging Kiely’s friend SS is NOT APPROVED. Bashing anyone who has not been named as a suspect/POI in this case is a violation of Websleuths’ Terms of Service. PLEASE STOP and move on to discussing how to find Kiely.

STOP POSTING ABOUT UNCONFIRMED INFORMATION.
That is not what Websleuths is about and it is a SERIOUS violation of the Terms of Service.
If you want to stay a part of this discussion, do not post info UNLESS IT IS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT OR A MAINSTREAM MEDIA SOURCE.

SCANNER INFO IS NOT PERMITTED ON THESE PUBLIC THREADS.

ADMIN NOTE:

As SS is a major case player in this matter of Keily's disappearance, her FindKeily page is being approved for discussion.

Please just ease up on this young lady and do not trash her or insinuate that she is somehow responsible for Keily's disappearance.

Thank you.

Hey everyone,

Please don't start using names that have not been in MSM or released by LE. The OP that contained a specific name was removed.

Also, please do not post information that may interfere with a police investigation. Websleuths isn't in the business of tipping people off in the event they are following the discussion.

Thank you.

ADMIN NOTE:

This post lands at random.

Because we never know who may be reading here, please do not post or discuss information that is part of an investigation unless it is information that is released by LE.

While locals may share information about geography / topography, businesses, local flavor, etc, please do not share rumors/hearsay or questions/answers related to FBI agent interviews in the neighbourhood. It's counter-productive to the success of their case, and if the FBI want to share information with the public about their ongoing investigation, they will do so by publicizing directly or through MSM.

Members can sleuth, share, and discuss whatever they want via private messaging conversations where up to 20 other members can be added to the group. Whatever is discussed in PM is not to be posted on the public thread.

ADMIN NOTE

True Crime Misfits is not an approved source.

Sleuthing social media of any individual other than victim or an LE officially named perp is not allowed.

Disparaging or criticizing the family in any way is not victim friendly. Just don't do it.

Don't say you read or saw something somewhere. Unless you can provide a link to "somewhere" that is an approved source, don't even mention it.

Admin has warned before about trashing/bashing SS and that we have a zero tolerance in place where members who do so will be banned from this discussion. Don't ignore Admin or Mod notes or warnings. Members won't be warned again. You'll just find yourself unable to post.

We welcome new members to Websleuths to discuss this troubling case.
PLEASE review the WS rules we ALL agreed to when we joined.
https://www.websleuths.com/forums/forums/the-rules.159/

The Terms of Service are intentionally strict as WS is the gold standard of true crime discussion websites, and we all work hard to keep it that way.
Here are a few of the key rules:

- Post only facts, and that must be linked to the source of those facts.
- If it can’t be linked, it can’t be posted. That includes any pictures.
- Approved links are from mainstream media (MSM) or law enforcement (LE) statements.
- The ONLY Facebook links permitted are those from MSM, LE, the victim, or the OFFICIAL missing page if there is one established.
- NO public comments from ANY source are allowed as they cannot be verified.
- NO ONE may be accused/speculated/sleuthed unless they are the victims or persons NAMED BY LE as a suspect or POI. NO bashing ANY of the case players/witness. Time-outs and/or thread-bans will be issued.
- If you have inside info you want to share without providing links, YOU MUST BE APPROVED AS A VERIFIED INSIDER. Link to do so is in my signature below.

Websleuths is FACT-BASED and VICTIM-FRIENDLY.
Family members are considered victims also unless/until LE tells us they are suspects or POIs.
Posts that are in violation of ANY of the Websleuths’ TOS are subject to removal, as are all the replies that quote and/or reference the violating post.

PLEASE use the Report button at the bottom of any post if you come upon a post that is questionable regarding Websleuths’ TOS.

THANK YOU for your efforts to post respectfully and responsibly according to the Websleuths’ TOS.

MOD NOTE:

@CharlestonGal has found a video, filmed by a local, showing the probable route driven the night of Kiely's death. This video, and ONLY this video from the local woman is approved. As always, refrain from discussing comments on social media.
Thank you! The video was found by member @WillenFan21.

ADMIN NOTE:

Websleuths is a crime sleuthing forum. Foul play has not been ruled out by LE, so until such time as it is, stop the putdowns of others who are speculating in that regard.

And don't be telling others how to think, how to post, what to do, or ridicule them for their speculative opinion / theories. Members are not Moderators or Administrators of this site. If there is something that is unacceptable or not allowed, WS staff will determine that through a combination of our established TOS and through review in accordance with TOS, mixed in with a lot of discretion and judgment required of WS staff. If you aren't trained as a Moderator or Admin at Websleuths, you are a regular member and do not have the right to be modding here.

Also a reminder that Websleuths is as fact based as possible based on what is available to us via MSM, LE, and other approved sources. Random social media is not an approved source for discussion and is not to be mentioned. If you can't link it according to Websleuths TOS, you can't discuss it here. It is considered rumor and we know that rumors grow legs and somewhere down the road some well-meaning person will say "Well they said at Websleuths that .....".

Please review TOS (aka The Rules) and post in accordance with them. Violation of our rules may result in a loss of posting privileges.

Thank you.

ETA: And stop with the snark and sarcasm. If you can't post with courtesy, you won't be allowed to post here.

Screen grabs from ~1:22 in AWP video announcement about the discovery of Kiely's vehicle. IMO it shows pretty clearly that her vehicle was entirely upside down.

It's hard to fathom how fast this likely happened. To be navigating in the dark and then suddenly flipped in a submerging vehicle with only one way out but not enough time to do it, that's just everything a worst nightmare is. I can only hope her last seconds felt somehow peaceful...

The contrast of her vehicle on sonar and the water and landscape above by day is stark. Tragedy and serenity collide.

JMO

"Adventures with Purpose does not accept rewards," said Linda Luchetti, a spokesperson for the Rodni family.

She said the reward was partially funded by a *** account set up for Linda Nieman, Kiely's mother that has raised nearly $63,000.

Larger donations pledged to the reward have been returned, Luchetti said.

Adventures with Purpose is expected to stream an episode on finding Kiely in the coming weeks on their YouTube channel, which has millions of followers.

In a previous case, Adventures with Purpose threatened to sue for a $100,000 reward promised in the case of a missing Iowa man, according to a 2020 story in the Des Moines Register.

In that case, Adventures with Purpose went to a small Iowa town to search for 22-year-old Ethan Kazmerzak, who disappeared in 2013. They found his body in his car at the bottom of a quarry pond.

When reached by phone Friday by the Reno Gazette Journal, Iowa businessman Brad Staley, who had helped organized the reward, said Adventures with Purpose didn't end up suing.

He said Kazmerzak's family gave the dive team money. He could not say how much but believed it was a significant amount.

Not necessarily. The parking spot was dark, a lot of people were coming and going, a lot of participants were under the influence. Easy to miss two people leaving in such circumstances.

There IS also the trail to walk up or back from the water. We saw it clearly marked with a post in the night time driving video from the Truckee area local who took her Jeep down.

I'm still not sure what happened. Before she was found, I leaned towards Reno somehow factoring in, since it was so close and mentioned frequently. I don't see how it would connect now though. I think her friends just went there out of a need to "do something", and feel close to Kiely.

I have felt all along that the water would be a natural place for people to go--either in small groups, pairs or even alone. And again, it doesn't need to be anything crazy going on--although kids were already fighting and probably blowing off steam being silly, impulsive.

If I was at a party like this one as a teen, going down to the water to just "be" with a friend or two, especially as it got later, is something I would have done.

I find it interesting that roped off area is that far from where it appears her car entered the water. If there was some sort of evidence, I'd THINK it would have been closer to where the car went in, not that far away. I can't come up with anything that could have happened in a place that far off (not like it's miles but you know what I'm saying).
Could the roped off area be from a campfire on the beach?

The fact she even remembered where her car was parked - and then found it in pitch black darkness, among other cars and trees must've meant she wasn't that drunk/drugged. She still had her mental faculties.

MOO.
Not to be dismissive of your comment, but in my drinking days I used to black out (not proud of this, I had a problem). A couple times happened from being slipped a mickey.

I was told by people around me that I still retained my mental faculties, I was just on autopilot with no memory. The last time this happened I "woke up" behind the wheel of a car. I haven't touched alcohol since.

Oh, I'm glad things got sorted for you. Alcohol can just do strange things to people. There's no hard and fast rule, wer all different.

Fires have become something that are absolutely not tolerated. If it were reported or detected, it would attract immediate attention. I don't think they had a bonfire this year, only in past years.

It's more I'm wondering how much the beach may play a role in these parties and whether a group of people was at the beach instead of the "party location."
In the livestream posted upthread the woman noted that the party site was littered with glow sticks, broken glass and some cans. She also said there were burn spots that she thought were campfires.

That sounds like there was a party in the woods that night. I’m a little surprised that the kids left a mess but that’s kids I suppose.

Since it has been reported that 100-300 people were at this party, there definitely could have been people coming and going throughout the night which may be why no one particularly saw Kiely leave or paid much attention.

Also, cars could have been blocking her usual way out, so she thought of another route that ended up being a fatal decision. JMO.
Perhaps she was familiar with the area and had done this same thing before, but this time for whatever reason she became disoriented.
The piece that doesn't fit to me is that 100 to 300 people were reported to have been there....and reported they were not all locals. And presumably most were drinking, and yet Kiely IS a local, been at the park before, and she's the only one who took a wrong turn and ended up in the water. Intentional foul play...I don't think so, but maybe a laced drink...possible. Intentional murder, I don't think so.

So...a big roaring bonfire would be out, as it would attract attention, but smaller fires seem possible? I also remember "Truckee Jeep woman" (whose name I need to go find...Christine, maybe?) mentioning the burn marks.

The local kids have a lot of outdoor experience, right? What about Dakota fireholes? I've made these before. Chilly night, maybe they wanted to heat some food, take the chill off.

(*****Language warning from this guy. It is an excellent, quick demo of what one is, but for some reason he comes out swearing...I have NO idea why, sound optional.)

Yes, I think IF, and that is a big IF, there is foul play involved with KR's demise, I suspect from the little we know that it might be an accident shrouded in a negligent homicide kind of thing - severe intoxication bordering on poisoning, a fun driving spree on the beach gone terribly wrong, a driver who offered to drive KR home that put them in the lake, etc.
IMO.

I grew up in a rural mountainous area such as this. We had parties and drove back roads. And sometimes bad things did indeed happen with young teen drivers, both sober and not sober, in the day time and in the night time.

I am guessing she got "turned around", was maybe a bit distracted by alcohol, her phone, etc. Keep in mind reaction times are delayed when drinking and reaction times in new drivers are also delayed. Teen drivers often "assume" things. They aren't defensive drivers yet. They are very poor at judging distances. She could have "assumed" she knew when she was, decreasing time to react. Her vehicle launched into the lake. The rear window was open (not uncommon for air flow/front windows closed due to dust). The vehicle water started filling up pretty fast, the momentum and trapped air floating it out further into the lake, the water poured in one window rolling the vehicle. This water is cold. Shocking to the system. This can also stun/delay reaction time. She got her seat belt off. It was frigid, dark, and the vehicle was oriented upside down, front end sinking first. She didn't have time to get out. It is a tragic misadventure. RIP Kiely.

Is she rolled her vehicle of the road, down an embankment, would we still suspect foul play?
