I'm afraid it's even worse than we think. These monsters decapitated their own children and made the other two see them in that state. So horrific.
What possible excuse could they even give for these actions? Unconscionable!

It's unfortunate that the media isn't keeping this case front and center. There's little new information to discuss because of the media silence.
Sometimes these very graphic and horrific cases involving children are just too much for people to follow. I found the same thing happened with the Gabriel Fernandez case. I posted regularly but very few people followed along and commented until the trial. I think it was just too horrible for people to take.
No worries @SnoopsterThank you for 'talking me down'. You have a great perspective.
I just find it so, so frustrating when various cases about one victim get all kinds of traction, yet cases like this, involving 5 victims, get almost none. Sorry for my frustration. I just can't stop thinking about these kids.
I'm going to make a guess. The man (can't call him a father) will go the insanity route. I watched his first appearance before the judge and I have to admit he has "issues". Were they real or was he acting? I don't know.I know it’s the ‘norm’ to plead not guilty, even when it is quite obvious you are, but what are they planning for a defence? Will they both blame the other, or both go the ‘mental’ route? They obviously don’t care about the two children they have left or they wouldn’t be going to trial. Moo.

Bump. The 23rd can't come soon enough! I'm praying the hearing doesn't get postponed.
I suppose it's what we all expected. I still can't get over the fact that special circumstances don't apply. If decapitating your children doesn't meet the criteria of special circumstances I don't know what does.Wednesday, February 23rd:

2/2/22 Update: Both plead not guilty Wednesday to murder & child abuse charges. The murder charges against Taylor do not include special circumstance allegations that could have made him eligible for the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. Taylor faces a potential state prison sentence of 57 years & four months to life if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney's Office. It was not immediately clear whether Brothwell could face the same potential life prison sentence if she is convicted as charged. Taylor & Brothwell each remain jailed in lieu of $4.2 million bail & are due back in a Lancaster courtroom 2/15/22.
2/15/22 Update: Preliminary hearing reset on 2/23/22.
