    Joseph “Joe” Clarence Wilma Jr.
    Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Case# 07-1069

Date of birth: 18 June 1953
Place of birth: Blue Island IL
Balding white male with brown hair. He was 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighed 220 pounds, and had hazel eyes.

Joe graduated from Bremen Community High School in 1971. In 1976, he married. During the Summer of 1989, he moved his wife and four children from Chicago IL to Harris CA.They settled on the Miller Ranch.

In the Summer of 2005, Joe was living in Redway CA. He joined Michael William Desmet of Shelter Cove CA in a trip to Wilma's property in Covelo CA. A large illicit marijuana garden was eradicated by LE on Wilma's property just prior to his vanishing. He was reported missing on 2 September 2005. He was 52 years old at the time he disappeared.

Covelo lies in Round Valley. In early April 2007, a hiker found a human jawbone containing a few teeth in Wylettie Flats in northwestern Round Valley. One source says it was near Wilma's property; another says the jawbone was retrieved from the midst of a 4,500 plant marijuana plantation.

At any rate, LE then extensively searched the vicinity on 6 April 2007, destroying the plantation in the process. Wilma's vehicle and a human femur were both found. The bones were eventually identified as Wilma's. However, no sign of Desmet was discovered.

    Michael William Desmet
    Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Case# 07-1069

Date of birth: 12 November 1971
    Place of birth: Moline IL
Education: Graduated Moline High School in 1990

Michael is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has green eyes and buzzcut brown hair. He was 33 years old when last seen in 2005.

In September 2002, Desmet was arrested in Willits CA for possession of a controlled substance and DUI. His address was given as San Jose. Desmet has other addresses: a PO Box in Ukiah, a Hilltop Drive address in El Sobrante. Also both 5 &17 Highview Circle, Whitethorn CA, shown by Google maps to be adjacent properties. However, a check via Google map shows these houses to actually be in Shelter Cove.

In about August 2005, Desmet left his home in Shelter Cove CA and met Joe Wilma, who lived in Redway CA outside Garberville. They then drove Wilma's vehicle to his property outside Covelo CA in Round Valley. A large illicit marijuana garden was eradicated by LE on Wilma's property just prior to the two men vanishing. Desmet and Wilma were reported missing on 2 September 2005.

A couple of Wilma's bones, plus his vehicle, were found in or near a 4,500 plant marijuana “pharm” in April 2007 during a widespread search near Wilma's property. No evidence of Michael Desmet was found. However, for whatever reasons, the Sheriff's Office believes Desmet to be a homicide victim as well as missing under suspicious circumstances.

Michael William Desmet and Joseph Clarence Wilma Jr.
    Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Case# 07-1069

On 2 September 2005, Desmet and Wilma were reported as missing. The two men had left Humboldt County CA in Wilma's vehicle. Their destination was Wilma's property in Covelo CA in Mendocino County.

On 5 April 2007, the MCSO was contacted by a person who had found a human jawbone near Wilma's property. An extensive followup search found Wilma's vehicle and a human femur. The bones turned out to be Wilma's. His death was classified as a homicide by the Sheriff's Office.

No sign of Desmet has been found. However, for whatever reason, the Sheriff's Office considers him a homicide victim. Nevertheless, despite the MCSO ruling, I have taken the precaution of establishing individual threads for Desmet andWilma.

Please—keep cross-posting on these three threads to the minimum.
