I'm guessing there is something suspicious about this wee one's death otherwise why arrest the father?

Total speculation on my part but perhaps something happened that cause the little guys death the night before (or that morning) and SG thought he could cover it up and make it look like an accident of some sort in the park.

PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- The father who was arrested in connection with the death of his toddler, who was found unresponsive at a park in Palmdale, has been released from jail.

Jail records indicate Schaffer Grindstaff, 29, was released Monday night, but the reasoning was not clear.

He was arrested after his son, Cameron Flores, was found unresponsive at Melville J. Courson Park in Palmdale last week. Investigators said the boy's father made some inconsistent statements when they interviewed him.
The circumstances surrounding the child's death remain a mystery. An official cause has not been released from the medical examiner's office.

Detectives, meanwhile, are looking to interview the child's mother.

After interviewing the toddler's father, investigators decided to place him under arrest.

"That was based on some inconsistencies in the statements that he had provided to the investigators regarding what had led up to the medical emergency regarding the son," said Lt. Michael Gomez with the Los Angles County Sheriff's Department.

"In essence it's concealment of a crime - that being at this point we would be looking at child endangerment," Gomez said.
