Hanford Police dig up the body of a 34-year-old homicide victim from NYE
The body of a man that has been missing since New Year's Day body has been dug up in Hanford, police confirm.
On Jan. 1, family members reported that Salvador Valdavinos, 34, had gone to a party the night before in the 200 block of East Third Street in Hanford and did not return.
The family told police several suspicious things popped up, leading them to believe something bad had happened to Valdavinos.
A missing person investigation found that Valdavinos had been shot several times at the party.
Multiple search warrants were issued, witnesses were interviewed, leading police identify John Anthony Reyna, 41, as a suspect in the murder of Valdavinos.
Police say the two were involved in an argument during the new year's eve party.
Investigators found Valdavinos' body in a four-foot deep grave in a field at the southeast corner of Ninth Avenue and Hanford Armona Road around 3 a.m. on Jan. 5.
Another man, Joe Trejo, 36, was detained by officers during a traffic stop and was arrested on Jan. 4.
The two men were booked Friday afternoon at the Kings County Jail on homicide charges, according to the Kings County inmate locator. Both are accused of murder, and Trejo of removing human remains and intimidating a witness. Both are accused of being in a gang, according to the website.
