Tony Joseph Griffiani
Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Case # 99-3924
Tony is a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. His photograph shows his hair as shoulder-length, tidily trimmed, and combed back behind his ears.
On 13 November 1999, Tony departed his girlfriend's house in Ukiah CA for a job in Gualala CA. He never arrived at work in the coastal town. His fate was unknown until 6 January 2000, when his pickup truck was found by mushroom hunters. The truck was in a wooded area in the Ridgewood sub-division of the Golden Rule Ranch between Ukiah and Willits. The truck was found inland 16 miles north of Ukiah; Gualala is 80 miles southwest of Ukiah.
On 21 September 2003, a landowner on the Golden Rule Ranch found a human skull near where Tony's truck had been found. A search found no other remains. Detectives identified Tony through his dental work.
The Sheriff's Office considers Griffiani's suspicious disappearance a homicide.
Information concerning this case may be called in to the MCSO Tipline at 707-234-2100. Their Investigative Services Bureau may be emailed at barneys@co.mendocino.ca.us. The Sheriff's Office can also be reached at 951 Low Gap Road, Ukiah, CA 95482.
