MODESTO, Calif. (AP) — Five people were found dead in a California home after someone called authorities to check on the people inside, police said Saturday.

Officers responding to a request to conduct a welfare check on the home, in a residential neighborhood in Modesto, discovered the bodies in the afternoon, police spokeswoman Heather Graves said.

She had no immediate information on the victims and circumstances of the deaths.

Detectives were processing the crime scene.

Modesto is located in the state's Central Valley.

The bodies of three children and two adults were found Saturday afternoon in a Northeast Modesto home; police are seeking help in finding a “person of interest” in relation to the incident.
Modesto Police public information officer Heather Graves said police are looking for Martin Martinez, 30, of Modesto, who drives a 2000 red Lincoln Navigator with the license plate number 7CNN611.

How very sad. What on earth brings someone to do something so unthinkable? I'll never understand. I did some searching of facebook and found a father and son in Modesto with this name. It may or may not be the family, but looking at the pics breaks my heart.

Good work by LE in apprehending him so quickly. I am very curious what Martinez's connection is to the deceased. Only a monster can murder children.

A 30-year-old man named a "person of interest" in the deaths of three young girls and two women in Modesto has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to police.
The youngest victims were between the ages of 6 months old and 6 years old. Police said the suspect, Martin Martinez, had a past relationship with one of the women and was the biological father of one of the deceased kids.

Child support or child custody or visitation, in my opinion. It could be jealousy, however, my instinct is he wanted to be free of the child and her mother. Others possibly were just "there" and had to be killed also? Just my thoughts as it's impossible for me to get inside the mind of such evil.
