Gates thanks the lawyers on both sides: you have all demonstrated the very best of what the legal profession aspires to be

Another key to the city for Justice Gates, please! Let's name a park after him, too!!

I am in awe of Justice David Gates. I might even be a little in love with him. Every utterance from him has been so well considered, so potent, so considerate of the family. What a wonderful man and a fantastic decision.

Absolutely! If there was a 'Men of the Canadian Justice' calendar, he should be every 2nd month! Move over Justin Bieber, I have a new weird mom-crush.

From the vistas of Big Sky Alberta to a no sky prison cell ... that 1000 yard stare just got significantly shorter.

Ok this is an amazing quote! If any journalists are reading they are wishing they came up with it!

With this sentence -It would be 2089 before #Garland could seek parole - if he lived to 129 years old (set from arrest in 2014 not today)

Even though I've been lurking through much of this, I just wanted to take the time to say thanks to you fine folks for your insight and compassion. I hate that really terrible circumstances brought us all here, but such is the way of this forum, I guess. But I can honestly say that I've never "met" so many people that I've shared common interests and points of view with, as I've met here. I hope to bump into you all in other cases, and I wish that I wasn't on the other side of Canada so we could all get together for a drink and decompress a bit.
I'd also like to apologize to my hubby, who just got home from work, and has to make his own supper. I've been a little preoccupied.
Take care, all. <3

Reported here sooner than CBC!

Answering you here about a series of events or connected events. If one was robbing a bank and shot # people in the act of robbery, I think that would apply. In this case each person was killed for, again, a different reason, at possibly different time, therefore disconnecting the chain of events. ??

Will post later . Thank you Jade.. Thank you judge Gates, a very courageous sentencing!

100% Pugmom. We have convened here for so long with a common objective - it feels like family. We are surely all feeling elated right now. Certainly, everything I hoped for was awarded. I am going to miss "seeing" everyone here, every day. My last hope is for the Liknes and O'Brien family - hoping they will again be able to feel joy in spite of their terrible losses. May that start with the fact that justice was served today. May that grow in the knowledge that we - a community within itself - support them in every way possible. May they be blessed from this day forward.
