Aurora Bolton and Joshuah Bolton left Surrey, BC, in the care of their mother on June 28, 2023, for a planned camping trip. They were due to return to their father, who is their primary guardian on July 17, but did not return and were reported missing the following day.

Through the investigation, police made a determination that there was an imminent risk to the safety and well-being of Aurora and Joshuah and an Amber ALERT was issued.

When the AMBER Alert was issued on July 19, the last known sighting was on June 30 in Kelowna, BC.

Since that time investigators have been able to piece together a timeline of confirmed sightings, including:

– On July 7, 2023 Verity, Aurora and Joshuah were confirmed to be travelling through the Merritt area. This is the last confirmed sighting of the children. Through video surveillance from a gas station in Merritt, police have also confirmed they were travelling with a large travel trailer (see picture). Police have learned they are likely travelling with two additional males – Verity’s father, Robert Bolton age 74 and Verity’s boyfriend, Abraxas Glazov, age 53.

– On July 15, investigators confirmed that Verity Bolton was in Kamloops, BC, grocery shopping. Based on a review of the video surveillance, the children were not seen in the store. At that time Verity Bolton was dressed all in all black, wearing a black baseball cap and black sunglasses. Police released images of the truck and trailer, which is described as a white bumper pull horse trailer being towed by a dirty dark blue 2012 Dodge Ram 2500, British Columbia license plate SJ2708.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation and is actively liaising with all partner agencies. Investigators are following up on all tips received and continue to pursue all possible investigative avenues to bring Aurora and Joshuah home safely. Anyone who knows the current whereabouts of Aurora or Joshuah is asked to call 911.

Aurora and Joshuah’s immediate family is asking for their privacy, but have asked us to relay this message on their behalf.

“Our family would like to thank the RCMP for their ceaseless efforts as well as the public, who are sharing the AMBER Alert and have been calling in with tips. Our entire family is devastated by recent events. We ask everyone if they could continue to be vigilant in looking for Josh and Aurora, who we miss greatly and hope they will be returned home safe very soon. Our family is respectfully asking for privacy at this time.”

At least the kids look okay and in good spirits on the CCTV screenshots. Maybe her being with other people will prevent her from hurting the kids.

Surrey RCMP have set up a dedicated tip line and email account to handle tips related to the Amber Alert for eight-year-old Aurora Bolton and her 10-year-old brother Joshuah Bolton.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the children, their mother Verity Bolton, her father Robert or boyfriend Abraxas Glazov to use these avenues:
A timeline of events is as follows:
  • June 28 – Children left with Verity Bolton for planned vacation.
  • June 30 – Robert Bolton picked up in Chilliwack, BC. The truck was towing a fifth wheel trailer, see attached images.
  • July 7 – Verity, Aurora and Joshuah attended a gas station in Merritt, BC. The truck was towing the large travel trailer at this time.
  • July 15 – Verity was in Kamloops, BC grocery shopping. The truck was pulling a horse trailer at the time. Link to release from morning of July 20.
  • July 18 - Surrey RCMP receive report that Aurora Bolton and Joshuah Bolton were not returned on to their father on July 17 following a scheduled visit with their mother.
  • July 19 – Surrey RCMP issue Amber Alert
“We need the public to stay vigilant and call our tip line or email tips with any sightings,” says Sgt. Tammy Lobb.

“We know they have been using the same truck and they have been towing three different trailers, and we need the public to keep this in mind. It’s also possible the children could be spotted with either Robert Bolton, Abraxas Glazov, or their mother Verity Bolton,” added Lobb.

Police are releasing several new images of Verity's father, boyfriend and the fifth wheel they have been seen towing.

Since then, police have confirmed that the children and their mother have also been travelling with Verity’s father, 74-year-old Robert Bolton, and her boyfriend, 53-year-old Abraxas Glazov.

Since June 28, there have been sightings in Chilliwack, Kelowna, Merritt and most recently Kamloops on July 15.

''SURREY, B.C. - Police say they have “credible information” that two children who are the subject of an Amber Alert have been taken “off the grid” in an alleged “preplanned” abduction by their mother.
Surrey RCMP say they believe Verity Bolton, along with her father Robert and boyfriend Abraxus Glazov are living in trailers in a rural area after the woman failed to return the children to their father earlier this month.
Police say they’ve received 180 tips about the case, but the whereabouts of eight-year-old Aurora and 10-year-old Joshuah Bolton remain unknown, with the last confirmed sighting at a Merritt, B.C., gas station on July 7.''

''Investigators say Verity Bolton’s 53-year-old boyfriend is an outdoorsman and fishing enthusiast from Nelson who has lived off grid in the past.
RCMP say Robert Bolton, the children’s’ 74-year-old grandfather, is from Chilliwack and hasn’t been to his home since June 30, when officers say he met with his daughter.
Sgt. Tammy Lobb says the public will play a major role in locating the children.
“We need the public to be alive to the information and photos we have shared and to be our eyes and ears and continue to call us with any tips and possible sightings.“

bf disappeared back in 2016

The previous disappearance may explain some of his “history” of living off the grid for periods of time.

“Glazov is a 53-year-old man from the Nelson, BC who has connections to the Deadman Valley and Vidette Lake area. He is an outdoorsman who enjoys fishing and he has a history of living “off the grid” for periods of time…..”

So what's the plan when school starts back in the fall? Are they intending to just keep the kids out of school forever? Have they even thought that far ahead?

One of the adults will eventually call someone that the RCMP is monitoring. I haven't read anything about Verity's mother/possible partner of Robert. Gotta play the long game.

How does anyone think this is a good plan? I just cannot understand, especially when you involve 2 other adults.

Interests me that an Amber Alert has been issued in this case. I’m thinking that there must be additional information LE has regarding danger. AAs are so rare in custody cases, and these kids were credibly spotted days after the abduction.

They aren't. Amber alerts are frequently alerted in custody cases when the non custodial party takes the child when legally they cannot-and that is the majority of child kidnappings.

Are the guidelines different in Canada than where I am (New Jersey)? Here the conditions are grave danger to the child. From NJ.gov: AMBER Alerts are intended to be issued when there is reason to believe that a child has been abducted and may be in danger of death or serious bodily injury. AMBER Alerts are not intended for all missing child incidents, runaways, or child custody situations, and it is the responsibility of all law enforcement agencies to make certain that the AMBER Alert system is not abused. New Jersey's AMBER Alert Plan | New Jersey State Police
I’m not seeing that here, which means either the conditions are different or that the full details are not released.

Per the website:
  • There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
  • The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
  • There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
  • The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
  • The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.
If a parent is non custodial (vs joint custody) often there's a good reason for that. Sometimes they do this voluntarily, other times it's because they have a history of abuse or charges against them that deem them a threat to the child unsupervised. So if a non custodial parent kidnaps them, then yes, an amber alert is issued. ANd those are the majority of your child abudctions-one or both non custodial parents taking a child.

Yes there are parental abuduction cases that aren't going to be amber alert status. However if they fit the above criteria, an alert will be sent out. Where I am, nearly all the amber alerts (few and far between) have involved a non custodial parent...1 or two.
An amber alert can be issued regardless of custody status if it fits all the above critera, regardless if it is joint custody, sole custody, a stranger, or two living parents who aren't divorced. If the child is in imminent danger, one needs to go out.

I imagine that a child in danger in canada will meet the same criteria, regardless of who is doing the kidnapping.

I respectfully disagree with you. I just don’t see imminent danger of bodily harm here, given the footage. Is it wrong for this father to be denied his custody? Yes, of course! But unless Canadian LE knows something the public doesn’t about the risk inherent in this case, an AA is an extremely forceful card to play here.
