Well they sent me an email asking for my background and the journalist background....so that was really odd. Then he asked me where I got the sketch from... I feel a little attacked here, like no hello, or introduction. He just plain out said what's your background? Only way I knew what his name was is because it was in his signature...feeling very uncomfortable now.

That's a "not so nice" experience....As you write it...it really annoys me...being an concerned citizen, btw they can read this too....

Circumstances of Disappearance
Cathy was a junior at Deering High School when she disappeared on September 24, 1971. She planned to go to a dance that evening at the YWCA and asked her father if he'd drop her downtown so she could buy a new pair of pantyhose and a tube of toothpaste. She got out at Cumberland Avenue.

Cathy finished her errands and stopped by a downtown music store and told a girlfriend she was heading home to get ready for the dance and would see her at the dance that evening. Then she started out on foot down Forest Avenue for the 1.5-mile walk home. That was the last time she was seen.

When she disappeared, she had in her possession a new pair of pantyhose for the dance that evening, two tubes of toothpaste, her house key, and a small Mexican handbag that didn't even contain enough money for the city bus fare.

It's interesting that you mention an American woman as a possibility Mysteries1974 - have always felt this victim could be American.

My reasoning is all her clothing was purchased in Quebec - leading me to surmise she could have come up from a border state to Quebec with her killer, not knowing he was about to kill her. The killer then drove her to Ontario and killed her. A well planned murder imo.

A suspect in her case is Reid Perley. He had connections to a Indian reservation in Quebec

Last week I contacted the OPP to ask if Dumba was ruled out. Today I received this email back.

"Be advised that Elaine DUMBA has previously been eliminated as our found human remains in Rockwood ON."

My Dad drowned in2005, Paton Weir same time, I sat with Hamilton OPP last year during a re-investigation into my Dad's death and the possible connection to the Jane Doe. Something not right...

Edit: just read the article, and that's absolutely terrifying. The fact someone told you to 'be careful' makes me think they're scared. The police should be looking into this ASAP, and should have been since day 1.

Do you remember the items that the female owned? If she had a card, were there any names on there? I'm super intrigued. You also mention a DUI happening regarding a female, is this the Rockwood Jane doe? If so, wouldn't they have her info on file?

The document with the DUI females info was attached to my dad's keys, the same Detective must have handled them both on the same shift, last year, during my "interview", he was very interested in that clerical error and made sure I had not retained any of the paperwork...Interestingly, they refuse to admit my Father and Paton Weir(ex Hamilton cop) were friends even though the Manager of the gold club they attended said they were very good friends. It was all swept away in 2005 and again last year, I feel a duty to Jane Doe to help identify her.
